P. Carpenter Seminole resident, Patricia LeAnn “Tricia” Carpenter, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024, in Shawnee.

Tricia, the daughter of Frank and Betty Sue (Franks) Carpenter, was born June 21, 1979, in Big Spring, Texas. She attended Varnum Public Schools before transferring to and graduating from Earlsboro High School, with the class of 1997. After high school, Tricia attended Seminole State College, followed by East Central University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Education and ultimately her master’s degree in Library Science. Tricia became a school teacher, starting at Wewoka, then to Butner School, where she taught 1st grade. She enjoyed reading, shopping with her mom and sister, watching the OKC Thunder play basketball, playing with her dog Chewie and spending crazy times with her gal pals. Tricia was a member of the Wewoka Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Melvin and Grace Franks, and Cotton and Wanda Williams.

Tricia is survived by her parents, Frank and Sue Carpenter, of Seminole; her sister and brother- in-law, Kerri and Jason Cheatwood; a nephew, Kason Cheatwood, of Shawnee; nieces, Marissa Cheatwood and partner David Mejia, of Yukon and Rayanna McDonald and husband Chris, of Cedar City, Utah; along with many other family members and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 26, at 2:00 p.m. at the Butner High School Gymnasium, with Jeff McFerran officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
