Carpenter Mary Kathryn “Kathy” Carpenter passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024 in Prague, Oklahoma at the age of 78. Kathy was born on March 19, 1946 in Oklahoma City. She was the daughter of Jesse and Wilma (Thrasher) Reeves. She grew up in Oklahoma City and was a member of the first ever graduating class at Carl Albert High School in 1964. Kathy was a military spouse for many years and she and her family moved from Oklahoma to Kentucky and then back to Oklahoma. In 1971, she and her family made their home in Little, Oklahoma, where she stayed until 1991, when she met and married, Oran Carpenter and they made their home in Okemah. In 2010, Oran preceded Kathy in death and she moved to Wewoka in 2011 and then settled in Prague in 2014.

Kathy enjoyed spending time outdoors, she was an avid and skilled gardener. She always kept a large garden. She also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds around her feeders. She was a skilled cook and created beautiful quilts. Kathy’s favorite time of the year was fall. She loved to watch the colors change from green to orange, red and brown. She loved the crisp mornings and looked forward to it each year. Kathy’s greatest passion was her family. She adored her grandchildren and looked forward to their visits. She was also passionate about her chihuahua dogs.

Kathy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Oran Carpenter; her brother and sister-inlaw, Gerald and Katherine Reeves and one sister, Freeda Bocher.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Kerry Dickson and his wife, Tracey of Prague; her daughter, Toni Chaffin and her husband, James, of Wewoka; nine grandchildren, Eric Chaffin, Brian Chaffin, Braiden Chaffin, Savanah Chaffin, Layla Chaffin, Billy Chaffin, Brixton Chaffin, Morgan Dickson and Alex Akin; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way; her sister, Helen Baker and her husband, Tommy; her brotherin- law, Emile Bocher and a host of family and friends.

A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, October 28, 2024 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in McAlester, Oklahoma. The family will accept guests from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague.
