Dolores Jones

Dolores Del Rio Jones, 92, departed this life on Monday, August 22, 2022 at her home with family by her side. Dolores was born September 8, 1929, in Seminole, OK to William Bruce and Alberta Jones. She is the youngest of three girls. Her sisters, Geraldine Jones Patterson (Bruce) deceased and Willie Marie Jones Cudjoe (Harold) deceased.

Dolores attended schools in Seminole, OK then Jr High in Denver, CO and returned to Seminole to graduate in 1947. Dolores attended Lincoln University, Jefferson City, MO, Langston University, Langston, OK with BA in English; East Central State University, Ada, OK -Master of Education in 1972. She had 25 years in education prior to her retirement in 1991.

Dolores had three sons, Roland Neal (deceased 2016); Irby Butler (deceased 2019) and Marcus Butler.

Dolores leaves to cherish her memories a son, Marcus Butler of Los Angeles, CA; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Dolores have been set for 1:00 PM Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma. The Rev. Ronald Leggons will officiate with burial following at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
