Max Smith
Max Dean Smith was a caring husband, dad, papa, brother, and friend. He left this world June 30th, 2023 at age 87, at his home surrounded by family.
Max was born to Cy and Golda Smith on June 4, 1936 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He graduated from New Lima Schools in 1954.
After graduating, Max married Virginia Stafford of Yeager, Oklahoma on March 11,1955. At the time of marriage Max was working in his family’s dairy farm. Together they had three children: Tony Smith, Tina Smith, and Terry Smith. Max and Virginia were married 64 years.
Max loved the Lord, singing church hymns, his family, and working Smith Oil, where he was owner and operator with his son Terry. We all admired the bond he had with his brothers, Kayle, Larry, and Bob. He enjoyed their company and reminiscing with them.
Max never met a stranger, he would greet you with a kiss on the cheek to show his love. He loved his wife’s cooking and would jokingly say, “sure glad you grandkids came to visit, that’s the only time I get to eat!” Sunday dinners were enjoyed by everyone living on “Smith Hill”, with grandpa saying grace at the table.
Max is survived by his son, Terry Lee Smith of Wewoka, OK, seven grandkids, Chad and Brandi Smith of Wewoka, OK, Jennifer and Stephen Caldwell of Allen, OK, Tracy Powell of Seminole, OK, Trina Carter of Holdenville, OK, Chris and Lacey Smith of Seminole, OK, Craig Smith of Purcell, OK Brandon and Hannah Smith of Durant, OK, and twenty-one great grandchildren, brothers, Kayle Smith of Wewoka, OK, Bob and Anna Smith of Ardmore, OK.
