Doner Gary Carlton Doner, age 83, of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024, in Ada.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 A.M. Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the Vamoosa Cemetery, with Pam Shirk officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are Troy Doner, Justin Morrison, Jeff Tompkins, Jordan Scott, and Chris Woody.

While Gary will be cremated, a room will be set up with some of Gary’s photos and collectibles, along with his register book to sign, at Swearingen Funeral Home in Konawa. Friends and family are welcome Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday, from 2:00 to 7:00.

The family requested donations be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

Gary was born October 23, 1940, in Dallas, Texas, to Dave and Mildred (Cox) Doner. He graduated from Konawa High School, with the class of 1959. Gary married Billie Abbott April 23, 1959 in McAlester, enjoying 65 years of marriage. Gary owned and operated Doner’s Hardware, in Konawa, he was a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, and he served as a volunteer firefighter for the Konawa Fire Department. Gary loved music, farming and ranching, collecting model cars, and going out to eat, but nothing was as important to Gary as spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his wife, Billie Doner, of the home; a daughter and sonin- law, LaDonna and Daryl Kuestersteffen, of Konawa; three grandchildren and their spouses, Laura and Justin Morrison, Hilary and Jeff Tompkins, and Ciara and Jordan Scott; five great grandchildren, Nolan Morrison, Harper Morrison, Jace Tompkins, Tyson Tompkins and Jaida Scott; along with his special nieces and nephews, and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Mildred Doner; his son, Jeffrey Doner; and his brother, Ken Doner.
