Holmberg It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Angela Brown Holmberg, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and friend, who left us on September 12, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Angie was 67 years old and passed away peacefully in Denver, Colorado, where she had been receiving treatment.

Angie was born on December 22, 1956 in Moore, Oklahoma, She was preceded in death by her father, Elbert Edwin Brown. She is survived by her mother, Betty Ruth (Deshazo) Brown, and her sisters, Deborah Cornelison and Rebecca Dulworth, who will miss her profoundly. Angie grew up in Seminole Oklahoma and graduated from Seminole High School.

Angie’s life was defined by her passion for learning, creativity, and love for the outdoors. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Geography from East Central University of Oklahoma, followed by a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture at Oklahoma State University. Her career as a landscape architect spanned many years, where she brought beauty and vision to each project she touched. Angie ultimately transitioned into a role that became her true calling, teaching.

Angie was also a successful entrepreneur, dedicating time to her own business.

As a full professor at Oklahoma State University and ultimately becoming the Department Head of Horticulture at Oklahoma State University, Angie shared her expertise, creativity, and passion for landscape architecture with generations of students. She was not only an esteemed academic, but also a mentor who deeply cared about the success and well-being of her students. Angie’s influence extended beyond the classroom, as she nurtured a sense of wonder and connection to the natural world in everyone she encountered.

Angie was married to her devoted husband, Bill Holmberg, for 40 years, and together they built a life full of love and adventure. She is also survived by her son, Daniel Brown Holmberg, his wife Allison, and her two beloved grandchildren, Everett and Landry. Parents Angie’s family was the heart of her world, and her love for them was boundless.

In her free time, Angie embraced her many hobbies with joy and enthusiasm. Whether she was on the tennis court, skiing down snowy slopes, or crafting beautiful pieces of jewelry, she approached life with the same energy and passion that she brought to her professional work.

Angie’s legacy of kindness, wisdom, and love will continue to shine through her family, friends, colleagues, and students. Her warmth, creativity, and commitment to both her family and profession truly left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew her.

Rest in peace, Angie. Your legacy will continue to bloom in the hearts and minds of all who were fortunate enough to know you.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, September 23, 2024 at First Christian Church, Edmond, Oklahoma.
