Since joining the SBA one year ago, I’ve had the opportunity to travel to all five states (Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas) and meet with hundreds of small business owners. The Biden-Harris Administration and SBA Administrator Isabella Guzman has made equity a key focus for the recovery of small businesses who are still navigating from the Pandemic. At the SBA, we are working to provide resources to combat the many disparities entrepreneurs of color face. This involves working with our lending partners to help bridge the gaps that exist with access to capital and connecting with our federal partners to increase government contracting opportunities.

Preparing For The Future Seminole Schools has been very busy since the start of the year in maintaining our facilities and starting new projects. If you have driven around our campus, you have seen the projects take shape. We are constructing awnings at Northwood and Wilson. This will allow our students to walk from morning drop-off lines and to afternoon pick-up lines on a covered sidewalk. We think this is a great asset for our students and parents during inclement weather.

Years ago, as elementary students at a tiny country school, our bus driver took us to school in his huge station wagon. That meant we kids got to talk with him for an entire hour – both ways. Good-natured and chatty, he would entertain us as he drove. True stories, gigantic whoppers, or funny gossip, it was all fair game to that man.
