This was a very full week at the House, with lots of groups visiting the Capitol and a packed committee schedule with lengthy agendas. Thursday was the deadline to hear Senate bills in House committees. We started with 327 Senate bills and are left with 271 after the committee process. Those bills are now eligible to be heard on the House floor over the next two weeks.

DEAR ABBY: My adult granddaughter, “Kaia,” is in a relationship with “Jenny.” Jenny’s stepmom doesn’t believe in gay marriage or homosexuality. I’m having a hard time dealing with the fact that Jenny’s family doesn’t accept Kaia or allow her in their home. Kaia is excluded from all holidays and family functions.
