Ella Sneed
Sneed It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ella Marie Sneed (Murray), a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and cherished friend, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2025. She was born on May 4, 1932, in New Lima, OK to Charlie Murray and Myrtle Octavia (Bryant) Murray.
Marie was a long-time resident of Wewoka, where she was known for her unwavering kindness and generosity to everyone she met.
Marie was a pillar of her community, embodying the values of compassion, humility, and faith. As a member of the Freewill Baptist faith, her life was a testament to selflessness and service. Whether offering a helping hand, a warm smile, or a listening ear, Marie’s presence brought comfort and joy to those around her.
Marie married her beloved husband, JC Sneed on January 20, 1949 in Van Buren, Arkansas. They shared a remarkable 63 years of marriage together and built a life filled with love, devotion, and family. Their union blessed them with 5 children, Robert Sneed and Frances of Shawnee, OK, Rickie Sneed and Brenda of Seminole, OK, Margaret Watters and Ricky of Jasper, FL, Judy McGuire and Mark of Eufaula, OK, Susan Sneed-Buck of Wewoka, OK, and honorary daughter Cathy Blackshire.
Marie was also the proud grandmother of her grandchildren, each of whom she adored deeply: Nickey Don Sneed, Roma Sneed, Robert Sneed, Clint Watters, T.J. Watters, Steven Watters, Bobby Sneed, Clifton Sneed, David McGuire, Bradlee McGuire, Robert James Sneed, Lindsey Buck and numerous great-grandchildren.
Her love and influence extended far beyond her immediate family, creating a legacy that will endure for generations.
Marie is survived by her children, grandchildren, and one brother Charles Murray Jr. of NM, along with numerous of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, JC Sneed; parents, Charlie and Myrtle Murray, siblings Ruby Demmings, Charlene Mason, Jo Vandergriff; brothers, Louis Murray, Bob Murray; grandson, Robert James Sneed.
Though we mourn the loss of her physical presence, Marie’s spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched with her gentle heart and generous soul. Her memory will forever be a source of strength and love to those who had the privilege of knowing her. Marie lived her life with faith and joy, often sharing the words of her favorite Bible verse, “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24). Even in her absence, her unwavering belief in the beauty of each day will continue to inspire all who knew her.
