Steven “Steve” Carl Casteel, Eufaula, OK resident, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024 in Eufaula at the age of 55. Steve was born on August 18, 1968 to Carl Steven Osbin and Phyllis Marie Casteel.

Steve’s step-father, Virgil Casteel alongside Phyllis raised him as he grew up in Seminole and around the Strother school area. He was a 1986 Strother High School graduate. He worked as a chef and he took joy in cooking and grilling for friends and family. Food was his love language. Steve was an avid gardener who was generous with his harvest, a reader and fisherman. He loved all parts of lake life. He enjoyed antiquing, bargain hunting and spoiling his fur babies like children (Art and Lady Bug).

Steve was first and foremost a helpful, loving and caring son, brother, father and friend. He expressed his love through his ornery and sometimes even irritating language of humor and his prankster personality. Those that knew him simply couldn’t help but love him. He loved to keep his sisters screaming with his playful antics which sometimes looked like trying to make them eat “mud” pies, pulling an inner tube in the snow or teasing them endlessly.

A mailman once got quite a surprise when a young Steven hid Grandpa Osbin’s cat in the mailbox to be found springing out in escape the next morning. He had many skills as a handyman, over the road driver and chef. He was a hard worker and loved to help anyone that would let him. Steve’s family would like to make a special recognition of his dear friend and coworker of many years, Randy Wall.

Steve is survived by his mother, Phyllis Marie Casteel; daughter and light of his world, Julie Ann Nicole Casteel; sisters, Amy Parnell and husband, Brian of Pine Mt., GA, Christy Combs and husband, Roy of Eufaula, OK and Debbie Napier and husband, Cody of Prague, OK; numerous nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Carl Steven Osbin; grandparents, Sylvester and Marie Houck, Juanita and Carl Osbin and Ellis and Faye Casteel and Steve’s fur baby “Art”.

Those serving as casket bearers will be Brian Parnell, Kevin Bane, Kent Chesser, Alan Dunlap, Joe Don Casteel and Joey Houck. Honorary casket bearers will be Randy Wall, Roy Combs and Cody Napier.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, OK. Rev. Billy Houck will be officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
