Iris Jean Young

Iris Jean Young age 89, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 in Ada, OK. She was born October 3, 1934 in Sasakwa, OK to the late Homer Acalee Rhoades and Iva (Brashears) Rhoades.

She graduated from Sasakwa. She worked as the Deputy Treasurer for Seminole County. She enjoyed playing moon, canasta, farkle. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church of Wewoka and loved her church family. She loved to travel and spend time with her friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford E. Ligon; siblings, Katie Filson, and Kenneth Rhoades.

Jean is survived by her children, Joe Ligon and wife Gayla of Duncan, OK, Joni Ligon of Ada, OK, Curtis Ligon and wife Aimee of Wolf, OK; grandchildren, KeeLee Burk and husband Brandon, Cody Ligon and wife Amanda, Andrew Ligon and wife Elizabeth, Aaron Ligon and wife Emalee, Dakota Atwood and wife Jamie, Katie Atwood ; great grandchildren, Eloise Ligon, Alexa Ligon, Kinsey Burk, Sutton Lee Atwood, Kyser Atwood, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 12, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Wewoka, OK with Dr. Joe Ligon officiating. Interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, OK.

Pallbearers: Joe Ligon, Curtis Ligon, Cody Ligon, Andrew Ligon, Aaron Ligon, Brandon Burk.
