Charles Gann

Charles Harold Gann was born on November 9, 1939, in Lamar, Oklahoma, to William Lawrence Gann and Pearl Lee (Slawson) Gann. He went to his eternal home in Heaven on November 2, 2023, at the age of 83. Charles was born, raised, and lived his entire life in Lamar, Oklahoma. He graduated from Moss School in 1958. At the young age of 16, he went on his first pipeline job. Charles worked as a pipeliner for 54 years, travelling all over the United Sates.

Charles and Marlene (Brick) were married on November 23, 1960 in Tipton, Iowa.

Charles was always working on something. He enjoyed going to the farm, watching rodeos and NBA basketball on tv, reading westerns, doing crossword puzzles, and most of all tending to his horses. Charles was quite a storyteller. His good memory and sharp wit made for some entertaining stories. He was a member of Lamar Baptist Church.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jesse and Leonard Gann, sister Geraldine Brooks, and close cousin Virgil Gann. He is survived by his wife Marlene of almost 63 years, of the home; four daughters: Tonya (Scott) Olivo of Holdenville; Lisa (Leon) West of Moore; Stacy (Tim) McMullan of Shawnee; Stephanie (Clint) Garrett of Moore; nine grandchildren: Ashley (Jimmy) Morrow, Whitney (Nick) Clifford, Michael (Kacey) Olivo, Jake Abney, Jordan West, Noah McMullan, Logan, Addison, and Jaxon Garrett; nine great-grandchildren London Olivo, Ella, Anna, Sophie, and Michael Clifford, Claire and Saige Olivo, Emma and Liam West; siblings Dale Gann of Lamar, Colene Pack of Wetumka, Robert Gann of Nashville, Georgia, Karlene Sanborn of Claremore, Jean Wolfe of Catoosa, and Sue Loftis of Holdenville. He will be loved and remembered by many other friends and family.

Funeral services to celebrate Charles’ life will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 7, at Lamar Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Freeman, John Freeman, Billy Dale McCoy, Jackie Mills, and Jesse Guernsey.

Interment will follow at Lamar Cemetery.
