Loretta Choate
Loretta Faye Choate, Seminole resident, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023 in Shawnee, OK at the age of 72. Loretta was born on October 29, 1950 in Wewoka, OK to Ottie Arthur and Willie Faye (Pearce) Williams. She spent all of her life in Seminole County. She married John Choate on October 4, 1968 at Seminole Pentecostal Church in Seminole, OK. Loretta loved her career as a nurse and her many years working at the Seminole hospital.
Loretta was a wonderful pianist. She and her husband loved leading the song service at their church and in the surrounding nursing homes. She enjoyed her crossword puzzles and she was also a talented seamstress. Loretta was involved with St. Jude’s Charity as well.
Loretta is survived by her husband, John Choate; four daughters, Tara Choate Spencer and husband, Brett Spencer of Whitesboro, TX, Elly Choate Ward and husband, Jimmy Ward, Bonnie Choate Devers and husband, Jeremy Devers of Whitesboro, TX and Jennifer Choate Mize of Seminole, OK; sister, Carol Williams Tahsuda of Annapolis, MD; ten grandchildren, Kristin Spencer Morais, Kordell Spencer, Dylan Choate, Shasta Harris, Colton Roberts, Payton Ward, Samuel Devers, Autumn Allen, Abby Mize and Garrett Mize; four great grandchildren, Maverick Morais, Soulen Lee Rice, Cade Harris and Marley Harris and many other family and friends.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, O.A. and Faye Williams; Nancy Williams Cotton and Gale Williams.
Those serving as casket bearers will be Dylan Choate, Colton Roberts, Kordell Spencer, Garrett Mize, Samuel Devers and Shawn Allen. Honorary casket bearers will be David Barnhart, Mark Barnhart, Dennis Smith, Randy Cotton, John Tahsuda III, William A. Williams and Michael “Shane” Williams.
Viewing will be Sunday, August 13, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with William A. Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Seminole, OK. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
