Terrye Sue Sneed

Terrye Sue Sneed was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on July 9, 1953 to Tommy and Nadine Sneed. She passed away July 8, 2023 at OU Medical Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Terrye attended school in Seminole for twelve years, graduating in 1971. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education degree from The University of Oklahoma in 1975 and was very active in the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She received her Master of Education in Counseling Psychology from Central State University in 1984. After graduation, her first teaching job was at Dixon Schools near Ardmore. From 19761988, Terrye worked at Putnam City schools and as a Psychological Technician and Associate. She moved to Washington and continued to teach from 1988 until she retired in 2022 due to her health.

Terrye loved animals, horses being her first love. She was an accomplished English Style rider. She raised Yorkies and Giant Schnauzers for many years. Terrye left her beloved Peggy the “one big dog” to her special friend, Bruce Tapper. Terrye was a master gardener. She often shared beautiful bouquets of flowers with friends, school colleagues and neighbors. Her vegetable garden was outstanding. Reading, watching her flocks of hummingbirds and trying new recipes were her passions as well. She was looking forward to retirement so she could travel. Her message to everyone is, “Don’t wait. Read all the books, eat dessert, and see the world.”

Terrye is preceded in death by her father, Tommy Sneed, who passed in 1987, maternal grandparents, Ben and Ruby Winn, and paternal grandparents, Vess and Alta Sneed. Surviving family members who will cherish her memory always include her mother, Nadine Sneed; sister, Timmye (Jim) Porter; brother, Tommy (Michele) Sneed; nieces, Katie Samples and Ashley (Chris) Calvert; great nephews, Ryan & Ryder Calvert; Uncle, Clarence (Alta) Winn; and her special friend Bruce Topper.
