Ruthie Churchwell

Bowlegs resident, Ruthie Fay (Dunigan) Churchwell, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023 at her home.

Ruthie, the daughter of Clarence and Ada Bell (Willis) Dunigan, was born March 17, 1950, in Mena, Arkansas. When she was 14, she met her soul mate, Carl Ray Churchwell. On May 11, 1965, she and Carl were married in Oklahoma City. Ruthie and Carl enjoyed 57 years of marriage prior to his passing on April 21, of this year. Together they owned C & R Auto Sales. Ruthie enjoyed gardening, yard sales and car sales. She also enjoyed road trips, which were often to attend car shows with her husband and brother. But nothing was more important to her than being with her family and being a part of family get togethers. She was a hard worker and an awesome mom.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; 3 brothers; and 2 sisters.

Ruthie is survived by her three children, Diana Churchwell of Bowlegs, Clarence (Bud) Churchwell of Bowlegs, and Laurie Churchwell of Maud; seven grandchildren, Chris Jenkins, Tessa Churchwell, Brittany Churchwell, Cody Churchwell, Raela Vasquez, David Churchwell, and Amy Mackrel; 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Robinson, of Howe, Oklahoma; and many other family members and friends.

Services will be Friday, June 23, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, with Larry Chesser officiating. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
