Petra Thurman
Petra Ulrika (Adams) Thurman, Seminole resident, received her angel wings on October 1, 2019, she was 60 years old.
On April 27, 1959, Petra was born in Karlsruhe, Germany to parents Rosemarie (Bertsch) Adams and adoptive father, Howard Ellsworth Adams.
Petra is fondly remembered as a free spirit and for her love of life. Her younger brothers remember her always keeping a watchful eye upon them. Petra had many talents. She was a great cook and gardener. She could make anything look good and could make anyone feel good with her amazing compliments. She enjoyed dancing and being the life of the party as well as laughing and making others laugh. She loved listening to music and going to the lake and she especially loved to lend a helping hand and lend an ear to anyone in need. She also adored her little dog.
She spent her childhood in Germany and later spent time traveling to several states in the U.S. while her father served in the U.S. army; she was very proud of her German heritage and could speak fluent German.
Petra married Andrew Briley on July 10, 1981 and together they had one son, Josh Briley. She graduated from Seminole State College with her Associates Degree. She later worked as a substitute teacher for Seminole area schools and later became the manager of Shady Acres.
Petra will be dearly missed by her family; mother, Rosemarie Adams of Seminole, Oklahoma, one son, Josh Briley of Seminole Oklahoma, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph Adams and his wife Amy of Seminole, Oklahoma, and Billy Adams and his wife Kiley of Seminole, Oklahoma as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Adams.
A memorial service is scheduled at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2019 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma.
