Maxine (Harjo) Carpitcher, age 61 and a resident of Sasakwa, Oklahoma, left this world for her heavenly home November 9, 2022 at OSU Medical in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Maxine took her last breath surrounded by her loving husband, kids, and grandkids.

Maxine will be taken to the family home Friday, November 11th at 11:00 a.m. for visitation. A Wake service will be held at the family home Sunday Night at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2022 at Bird Creek Baptist Church, and burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa, Oklahoma. Walter Factor will officiate, and casket bearers are Billy Alberson, Brandon Deere, Emmett Harrison, Oscar Hernandez, Jeremy Alberson, and George Lueking. Honorary bearers are Bobby Sanderson, Milo Fox, II, Edmond “Yahmey” Fox, Larry Jesse, Izzy Camp, Weitna Carpitcher, Michael Deere, Jose Hernandez, Elijah Withers, and Aeryk Deere.

Maxine was born April 10, 1961 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Rosey Lee Culley. She lived most of her young life in the Wolf/Bowlegs area. She worked most of her adult life as a DDCA/CMA caring for the mentally disabled. She worked at New Horizons Nursing Home of Konawa until it closed. She continued her work caring for others at Oakridge Nursing Home in Wewoka until she retired in 2010.

Maxine loved to cook for any and every one, mostly her family meals with her kids and grandkids. You never would leave from Maxine’s home hungry or without a to-go plate for later. She knew all of her family’s favorite meals and would make them their special meal for their birthdays.

Maxine’s home was always open to anyone in need of anything, a place to sleep, a meal, a cup of coffee, or just to sit around the dining table to visit for hours on end. She gave from her heart even if she knew she couldn’t afford it. She always would say, “I’ll get my reward in heaven.” Maxine was baptized February 3, 1980 at Little Quarsarty Indian Baptist Church in Cromwell, Oklahoma. Her faith lead her to become a member of the Seminole Baptist Church in Konawa.

Maxine married her life partner, Jimmy Carpitcher August 14, 2004. She would always tell any and every one that he was the “love of her life.”

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Carpitcher of the home; four daughters, Andrea Hernandez and husband, Oscar of Sasakwa, Lydia Deere of Hickory Flat, Mississippi; Rosanna Carpitcher of the home, and Josie Alberson and husband, Jeremy ofAda, Oklahoma; two step-daughters, Angela Carpitcher and Izzy Camp of Konawa, and Deanna Carpitcher of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one son, Jonas Carpitcher of the home; one step-son, Weitna Carpitcher; four sisters, and four brothers, including her “Special Sisters” as she called them, Mary “Beth” Paul, and Joanna Walker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosie Lee Culley, and Lydia and Mitchell Harjo; three brothers; and one sister.
