Earlsboro resident George Crump “Big Papa” Harjoche passed away Monday, August 22, 2022, at his home.

George, the son of Frank Harjoche and Nina (Bender) Fixico, was born July 20, 1941, in Wolf. He graduated from Bowlegs High School with the class of 1959. On October 9, 1956, he married Belinda Jones, in Pauls Valley. Belinda passed away a month from their 60th wedding anniversary in 2016. Following high school, George attended OSU Tech in Okmulgee. During his life George had many professions; he owned Our Store, which was a grocery store in Seminole, and he owned the Seminole Bowling Alley, for several years. He also worked for the US Postal Service as a mail carrier. He was a member of the Seminole Jaycees, during his time in the Jaycees the Seminole Gospel Singing was started, greatly due to the efforts of the Jaycees. George also enjoyed golfing and watching sports and westerns, but the passion of George’s life was serving God. George was saved at Mekusukey Baptist Church in 1958 and was baptized by Sam Proctor. He was a proud member and deacon at Cedar Creek Baptist Church for many years. He spent over 35 years in the ministry, pastoring at several churches during his tenure. At the time of death, he was the Pastor of Middle Creek #2 for 16 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his son, Frankie Harjoche.

George is survived by his daughters, Dawn Clark of Okmulgee, Kim Harjoche of Earlsboro, and Amy Harjoche of Tucson, AZ; 8 grandchildren, Ashleigh, Justin, Kasi, Nina, Sidney,Austin, Cooper, and Dean; 9 great grandchildren, Tyler, Eli, Jeremy, Bobbie, Ali, Xavier, Austynn, Corbynn, and Keaton; one great great-grandchild, Elaina; along with many other family and friends.

A wake service will be Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Middle Creek #2 in Holdenville at 7:00 P.M.

Services will be Friday, August 26, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at Seminole First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Harjoche Family Cemetery in Bowlegs. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in
