Betty Pennell
Betty Jo (Wells) Pennell, age 92 and a resident of Konawa, Oklahoma passed away March 27, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loving family under Elara Care Hospice and Teresa Killian
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Konawa under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Rev. Mike Cox and Chaplain, Timothy O’Gwynn will officiate. Casket bearers are John Pennell, Jr., Tye Pennell, Tony Nelson, Kyle Nelson, Aaron Robinson, and Bud Crawford. The family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1st at the funeral home.
Betty was born January 17, 1930 in Jermyn, Texas to Claude Catlett Wells and Jodie Marie (Erwin) Wells. She graduated from Sherman High School. She married John Odle Pennell October 17, 1948 in Sherman, Texas, and she worked in home healthcare, and as a bailiff for four years at the Lea County Sheriff’s office in Lovington, New Mexico. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church of Konawa, and she loved working in her flowerbeds and garden. She also loved cooking for and taking care of others.
She is survived by one son, John O. Pennell, Jr. and wife, Sharon of Hugo, Oklahoma; two daughters, Debbie Pennell of Konawa, Oklahoma, and Teresa Crawford of Konawa; five grandchildren, Mandy Nelson, Dee Ann Robinson, Tye Pennell, Tracy Grimes, and Bud Crawford; six great grandchildren, Kyle and Keara Nelson, Dally Pennell, Jace Robinson, and Bryce and Saria Grimes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John O. Pennell; parents, Claude and Jodie Wells; three sisters, Margaret K. Ainsworth, A. Louise Benedict, and Sherry J. Furche; and one brother, Jerry B. Wells.
