Gary Dye
Gary Troy Dye entered Heaven’s Gate on Friday, February 4, 2022, at the age of 66.
Gary was born on February 5, 1955, to Jessie Ann (Bray) Dye and L.D. Dye in Seminole, Oklahoma. He attended Good Hope Elementary and Varnum High School where he graduated high school in 1973. He received a perfect attendance award for never missing a single day of school for all 12 years of school.
In 1978 Gary went to work for BJ Hughes. He was transferred to Alaska and worked there for three weeks and would come home for three weeks and did so for many years. He eventually moved back to Seminole until he was transferred again to McAlester, Oklahoma where he ended up meeting the love of his life Terry Marie Martin. They married on December 7, 1990 and moved back to Seminole where they currently reside. Gary worked in the oilfield for many years and had his CDL and drove for Commercial Brick and Jack’s Flex Pipe where he finally retired in April of 2021. In his spare time, Gary enjoyed spending time with Terry, his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He loved sports and hardly ever missed his grandchildren’s ballgames. He even helped coach his grandsons little league baseball team called The Sliders with his son Jeff. His favorite team was OU and loved to go to watch them play football at the stadium and on TV. He enjoyed working on his truck and most nights you could find him at his sister’s house playing dominos.
Gary is survived by his wife of 31 years, Terry (Martin) Dye of the home; his four children and their spouses Brandy Miner and her husband Jeremy of Seminole, Ok, Chris Dye and his wife Hannah of Seminole, Ok, Jason Meadows and his wife Amanda of Ft. Gibson, Ok and Jeff Meadows and his wife Abby of Seminole, Ok; his 12 grandchildren Haley and her husband Beau Staley, Cadey Riddle, Blake Presley, Johnny Miner, Sylver Miner, Dallas, Logan and Joshua Dye, Micah Phillips, Bryce and Addison Meadows, Destiny Tiger, Marcus May, Serinity and Knightlee Meadows two great-grandchildren Stella and Major Staley; two sisters and brothers in law Linda Branson and her husband Tom of Seminole, Ok, Regina King of Seminole, Ok, Roger Martin of McAlester, Ok, and Timmy Martin of McAlester, Ok and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and L.D. Dye; mother and father-in-law Joe and Charlotte Martin; sister, Karen Richards; grandparents, Dallas and Lula Dye and Jess and Ettie Bray; brother-in-law, Phillip Martin; sister-in-law, Crystal Blackwell; brother-inlaw Richard Blackwell and nephew, Roger Martin Jr.
Viewing will be Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma. Family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 9th. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Seminole at 2pm, with Carl Whitfield officiating. Final resting place will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Casket bearers are his sons Chris Dye, Jason Meadows, Jeff Meadows, son in law Jeremy Miner, brother-in-law Tom Branson and grandson in law Beau Staley. Honorary casket bearers are his grandsons Blake Presley, Dallas, Logan and Joshua Dye, Marcus May, Micah Phillips, Bryce Meadows and Johnny Miner.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
