Ola Mae Chesser Clark, 96, passed away peacefully Monday, April 19, 2021, in Houston, Texas. She was born just north of Seminole, Oklahoma, on March 27, 1925, to Cratie Adus Combs Chesser and Clarence Lloyd Chesser. Her parents owned Chesser’s Grocery. As a teenager, Ola Mae worked at the store, as well as the Chieftain theater on Main. Ola Mae was the Valedictorian of the Varnum High School Class of 1943 and later attended Oklahoma Baptist University. She left OBU to work at what is now Tinker AFB to do her part for WWII.

On May 27, 1946, Ola Mae married Billy Eugene Clark. Ola Mae loved to travel and often marveled that a woman from the country became an around the world traveler. For most of her life Ola Mae enjoyed bridge and was an excellent player. Later in life, she delighted in piecing together jigsaw puzzles with her daughter Jan. Ola Mae was a person of great faith and a church member her entire life. Her support in all ways demonstrated her devotion to every church she belonged to. Like many children of the Depression, she never complained and always soldiered on no matter the circumstance. Ola Mae was as sweet as pie with a great sense of humor. She loved and was loved in equal measure.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, May 27, 2021 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma. Reception to follow. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
