Ly Van Duc
Ly Van Duc , 85, of Konawa, Oklah o m a passed away Saturday, August 22nd, 2020.
Duc was born June 5th, 1935 in Saigon, Vietnam.
He grew up in Vietnam and served in the South Vietnamese Navy as Naval Captain.
He moved to the United States in 1974, eventually settling and making a home in Konawa, Oklahoma.
He married Linda Abbott in 1999 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
\He worked in Wewoka, Ok., for many years as a carpenter and landscaper. He lived the American Dream and became a rental property owner through his many years of hard work.
Duc was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
He was a fabric of the Vietnamese community in Oklahoma. He mentored and helped immigrants to become acclimated to the country that he quickly grew to love. His legacy will be remembered as allowing many people and immigrants to realize that they too, could achieve their American Dream.
While he deeply loved his wife and children, he also fondly reminisced and missed his family that remained in Vietnam.
Duc is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Jean Abbott, and granddaughter Tiffany Barton.
He is survived by children Ly Van Thong, Ly Le Hoa, Ly Quoc Dung, Ly Le Dung, & Ly Anh Minh of Saigon, Vietnam, son Jeffrey Abbott & Christina Pangle of Wewoka, Ok., daughter Cindy Boyer & Jerry Newcomb of Konawa, Ok., daughter Mylinda & husband Lance Bowen of Ada, Ok., daughter-in-law Shaena Abbott of Ada, grandchildren Riley, Dakota, Layna, Koby, and Katelynn, and great-grandchildren Tayla and Carter.
Duc also had dear friends that were just like family: Tin & Le Nguyen of Moore, Ok., Ken & Jeannie Le of Wewoka, Ok., Luyen & Them Vu of Wewoka, Ok., and many more.
Graveside service for Duc will be Thursday, August 27th, 2020 at 10:00 am at Vamoosa Cemetery.
Two visitations will be held for Duc. visitation will be held Tuesday, August 25th from 10am-6pm at Estes-Phillips Funeral Home in Ada, and Wednesday, August 26th from 9am-7pm at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home in Wewoka, under the direction of Estes-Phillips Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be
