Beth Shipman
Beth Shipman, 85 years of age, joined her beloved husband, Bill Shipman, in the arms of our Savior on Thursday, June 6, 2019, following a long and valiant battle with Parkinson’s disease.
She was born Nettie Elisabeth Walker on July 8, 1932 in Cromwell, Oklahoma to Fred Ervin and Marta Unita (Parks) Walker.
She was a 1950 graduate of Wewoka High School. Beth married William E. Shipman, brother of her best friend, Mary Wilma (Shipman) Bramblett, on June 21, 1952, in a small ceremony held at her parents’ home in Wewoka, Oklahoma.
Beth was a Certified Professional Secretary and a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association. She was also a longtime member of the MENSA. Beth finished her professional career as a Human Resource Director for the Andrews I.S.D. in Andrews, Texas.
Beth was a loving mother to her son Walter Leonard Shipman and his wife, Namiqa A. Shipman and Bret Walker Shipman.
A special place in her heart was reserved for her only grandchild, William S. Shipman of Austin, Texas.
She was very close to her much beloved sister and best friend in the world, Mimi Lee and to her special friend, Kathy Lewis, who she loved like a daughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister; Frances Austin of Plainville, Kansas and by her cherished husband of 56 years, William E. Shipman.
Beth is survived by her sons; Walter Shipman and his wife Namiqa of Lawton, Oklahoma and Bret Shipman of Maud, Oklahoma, grandson; William S. Shipman of Austin, Texas, sister; Mimi Lee of Maud, Oklahoma and numerous nephews, nieces and their families. Beth will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, Oklahoma with Rev. Rusty McMullen officiating, assisted by Rev. Butch Bradley.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka, Oklahoma.
