Peggy Smith

Funeral services for Peggy Ann Smith were held Monday, November 4, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Wetumka, Oklahoma. Interment followed at the Wetumka Cemetery.

Peggy Ann Smith was born May 22, 1947 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Orvel and Margaret (Baldwin) Burkes. She passed away Friday, November 1, 2024 in Holdenville, Oklahoma at the age of 77.

Peggy was a resident of the Wetumka area most all of her life and was a 1965 graduate of Wetumka High School. she worked for more than 30 years at the Hughes County Times and was a member of the First Christian Church of Wetumka. Peggy enjoyed crafting, camping, bird watching and especially loved her grandchildren. On February 13, 1963, in Wetumka, she married Earl Wayne Smith.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband and brothers in law, Billy Dean Price, Edward Smith and Dolen Swayze and sister in law, Anna Smith.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Tyra and husband Alan of Wetumka and Barbara Lewis of Seminole; one sister, Wanda Price of Wetumka; sisters in law, Elvania Swayze and Pat Smith of Okemah; four grandchildren, Chris Lewis and Ashton, Lynsey Zamora and Noe, Travis Tyra and Zoey and Shalan Dockery and Jimmy and 16 great-grandchildren, Jordan Lewis, Madison Lewis, Riley Thomas, Carter Thomas, Kiah, Kade and Khloe Lewis, Mika Winters, Cruz Zamora, Jaxton, Zayden and Taelyn Tyra and Addy, Sarah, Ember and Jase Dockery.

Serving as pallbearers were Skeeter Smith, Terry Swayze, Jerry Swayze, Jimmy Price, Allen Chastain and Bobby Green.

Grandsons served as honorary pallbearers.

Services were under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Wetumka, Oklahoma and officiated by Bro. Bobby Green.
