Wanda Barton

Barton Wanda Diane Taylor Barton, age 68, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024. She was born in Chickasha, OK on November 13, 1955 and shared that birthday with her maternal grandmother, Cora Bush of Chickasha, OK. Wanda’s parents were J. Albert “Bud” Taylor and Helen Norene (Bush) Houck. Wanda graduated from Seminole High School and enjoyed serving as secretary of the Pep Club, was a member of Student Council and the Home Ec. Club, as was her sister. Wanda also represented the senior class of 1995 the Basket Ball Court Royalty. In 1976 she graduated from Seminole Jr. College now known as Seminole State College.

Wanda enjoyed fishing, bowling, camping at Eufaula Lake on hers and her hubby’s lake property, community garage sales and junk shops. She loved traveling with her sister and brother-in-law on many many fun trips together.

Wanda loved her time keeper job at a Houston K-Mart. Upon moving back to Seminole, she was working at Wal-Mart. When news was publicized that a K-Mart was to be built in Shawnee, Wanda applied and was quickly hired. She moved to Shawnee and bought her first home on November 12, 1989. She married Bobby R. Barton in Bowlegs, OK on November 12, 1988.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband, Bobby R. Barton; sister and brotherin- law, Linda Norene Taylor Harris and Larry Harris; many cousins, nieces, and nephews and many other family and friends.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and two uncles.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, OK.

A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at Little Cemetery.
