Walter Bishop
Walter “Red” Bishop departed this life on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the VA Hospital, Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 99.
He was born in Crinner, OK July 10, 1920 to the late Joseph Eugene BIshop and Maggie Man-tooth Bishop.
He married Wanda Lee Johnson and she preceded him in death.
Red served in the US Army October 30, 1942 until January 12, 1946 as a PFC in Rhineland Central Europe. His decorations and citations are as followed EAME Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, American Theater Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, 1 Service Stripe, and 1 Overseas Service Bars. He was listed as Marksman Rifle on August 23, 1943.
Red spent the last year at the Veterans Center in Norman, OK. His home was Wewoka, where he lived with his wife and children. He enjoyed many things such as going to Church as a faithful member. He loved auctions, visiting people. He loved his brothers and sisters and remained very close to each of them throughout the years. His favorite things were probably buying new vehicles most every year. He will be remembered as a kind man and loved helping other and was loved by many.
Preceding Red in death are his parents, wife, daughter Donna Bible, son Robert Bishop, two sisters and nine brothers.
Survivors include daughter Mamie Lou Bruce and husband Kevin of Dallas, TX, son Wesley Edward Bishop and wife June of Red Oak, TX, and son Robbie Paul Bishop and wife Jennifer of Wewoka, OK; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
