Birdwell Teresa Lee (Melton) Birdwell passed away at her home on August 16, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Teresa was born on December 6, 1960 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Don and Doris Melton. She attended Seminole Schools and met her husband, Richie, in the fall of 1980 at Sonic. They married on April 25, 1981 and together raised four children; Shawn, Crystal, Jennifer, and Lacey.

Teresa had many jobs throughout her life; however, being a mother was her true calling. Her family was the most important part of her life and they loved her deeply and she will be greatly missed. Whom you know as Teresa, the family know as “Nan”. This name was affectionately given to her by her grandson, Austin, and the rest of the family quickly followed. Being Nan meant the world to her.

In her spare time, Teresa loved crafting, painting, making people gifts, shopping, and cake decorating. She also loved taking classes to improve her hobbies.

Teresa is remembered for her strength and strong will. She was also a “second mom” to many. She was a very generous and kind person.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Doris Melton and one sister, Donita Whitley.

She is survived by her husband, Richie; her son, Shawn and wife Amy; her three daughters, Crystal and husband Daniel, Jennifer and husband Dustin, and Lacey and partner Garrett; seven grandsons, Jon, Ian, Raiden, Austin, Carter, Kash, and Rhodes; one great-granddaughter, Mia; three brothers; Ricky, Mike, and Terry Melton; and many nieces and nephews that love her.

The family would like to thank Patti, Lindsey, and Brenda for their kindness and friendship.

A memorial ceremony will be held at the Walker Funeral Chapel on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 10:00 am.
