Stanley “Stan” Deward Tatum was 90 years old when he went to be with the Lord on July 7, 2022.

Stan was born on February 8, 1932, in Banner, Arkansas, to James Sherman, Sr., and Clemmie Ethyl Tatum. He was the 7th child of thirteen. He had eight sisters and four brothers. By the time he was five years old, he was doing chores on his family’s farm.

When he was twenty years old, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. After two years, including an eighteen month tour in Germany, he was honorably discharged in 1954. He used the money he earned in the army, as well as what he earned working summers baling hay, to pay for college. He graduated from OSU after four years with a Bachelor’s degree. He worked at Tinker AFB for 25 years as a mechanical engineer, and retired on November 29, 1990.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spent several summers camping at different lakes in Oklahoma and Arkansas. He also enjoyed traveling around the country with his wife. He was a member of Bryant Avenue Baptist Church since 1984. It was at this time that he gave his life to Jesus, and he was never the same! He loved the Lord and served Him faithfully. He was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher, and spent many hours working around the church.

He was honest, hardworking, and generous; a man of overall high integrity, and he will be missed beyond words. He is survived by his three children; Jan Pressley and husband Dale, Jay Tatum and fiancé Lisa Aud, and Jill Moss and husband Eddie, five grandchildren; Shannon, Rhea, Jamie, Alfredo, and Paige, three great grandchildren; Gray, Finley, and Cairo, three brothers; William Tatum, Keith Tatum and wife Barbara, Mike Tatum and wife Elaine, sisters; Joan Henry and Arlene Benedict, and a host of other relatives and friends. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Geri, and seven siblings.
