Sarah Jo (Sweatt) Akerman

Sarah Jo (Sweatt) Akerman, age 81 and a lifelong resident of Konawa, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, June 5, 2020 at St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

A wake service is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Konawa. A funeral mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 9th at the church under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Fr. Adrian Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B. will officiate, and burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Sarah was born May 11, 1939 in Konawa, Oklahoma to Andrew “Sam” Samson Sweatt and Martha Cassana (Cowger) Sweatt. She married Christopher Jerome “Chris” Akerman on June 23, 1956 in Fresno, California. She is survived by her husband, Chris Akerman of the home; one son, Gary Akerman of Davis, Oklahoma; two daughters, Karen Green of Edgewood, Texas, and Brenda Akerman of Shawnee, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Martha; one son, Tim Akerman; one grandson, Andrew Akerman; and seventeen siblings.
