Richard Monroe Jackson passed away on October 11, 2021, at the age of 88, at his home in Seminole, Oklahoma.

He was born June 9, 1933, in Vasco, Texas to Darrell Benjamin Jackson and Gladys Eugene (Thomas) Jackson.

He spent most of his life in Grand Prairie, Texas and Lake Creek, Texas before moving to Seminole.

He married Marion Sue Jackson on April 25, 1952, in Plano, Texas. They were married for 63 years before she passed away on November 22, 2015.

Richard worked as a laborer in the Water Department of the city of Grand Prairie, Texas until his retirement. He enjoyed playing his guitar and coon hunting.

He was a member of the Cromwell Pentecost Church. He was always on time wherever he went, especially to church. He would go one hour early so if he had car trouble, he could still make it on time. He loved the Lord with all of his heart.

Left to cherish Richard’s memory are his children; James and Brenda Jackson of Prague, Oklahoma, Rita and Ronnie Myers of Seminole, Oklahoma and Nancy and Jeff Harris of Wewoka, Oklahoma, his siblings; Boyce Ray and Sue Jackson and Dian and Norman Haefs, grandchildren; Mindy, Ginger, Jana, Tamara, James and Scott and eighteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marion Jackson, Larry Jackson, L.B. Jackson, Neva Smith and great-grandson; Lagan Jackson.

Richard’s family will greet visitors from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 2021 at Swearingen Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Seminole with Rev. James E. Jackson and Rev. Ruby N. York officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be James R. Jackson, Scott D. Jackson, Nathanuel Cloud, Du’male Tanee, Kenny Tanee and Charles Richards.

Honorary bearers will be Robert Richardson, Jacob Robbins, Dylan Richardson, Zachary Jackson, Henry Jackson, Ben Coolen, Cody Small, Dalton Ferrell and Mychel Richards.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
