Ray Jacomo Jr.
Ray Lee Jacomo, Jr., longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed away at the age of 61 on April 21, 2021. He was born May 9, 1959 in New Orleans, Louisiana to parents Ray Lee Jacomo, Sr. and Ella (Seaman) Jacomo. He grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and graduated from East Ascension Academy in East Ascension Parish in 1977.
Ray moved to Seminole in 1988 and worked as a groundskeeper at the Jimmie Austin Golf Course. After he had lived in Seminole for seven years, he met his future wife Teresa Ann (Tracy) Wood at a Lions Club Golf Tournament. Ray was working at the course and Tracy was in Lions Club. Ray drove by in a golf cart and smiled and said hi and later Brian Guthrie introduced them in the Pro Shop. Later that day they met again at the grocery store and talked about playing tennis some time. Ray and Tracy married on February 17, 1996 at the Church of Christ at Little. After 25 years, they never got around to playing tennis, but had a wonderful life together. In 2000, their daughter Katie was born, and she was the apple of her daddy’s eye.
For the last 24 years, Ray has worked as a Transport Deputy at the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department. Ray enjoyed gardening, working in his shop, playing with his 5 dogs and going to antique stores and flea markets. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Left to cherish Ray’s memory are his wife of 25 years, Tracy Jacomo of the home, his daughter Katie Jacomo of the home, sister-in-law; Ruth Ann Leader, nieces; Angela (Leader) Adams and her husband Ryan and their children; Madeline and Ryan Jacob Adams, Leigh Ann Leader and her fiance’ Randy Brammer, Amy (Leader) Garner and her husband Jarrad and their children; Amelia and Royal Garner, brother-in-law; Rick Larwig, nephews; Chris Larwig and his wife Vanessa and David Larwig and his wife Stephanie and a host of friends. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Ella Jacomo, his mother-in-law Sue (Kerr) Wood, his brother Jak Leader and his sister Jil Leader.
Funeral Services for Ray will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Rev. Gary Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery where Ray will be laid to rest next to his parents.
Casket bearers will be the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department. Honorary bearers will be Ryan Adams, Jacob Adams, Nolan Decker, Conlan Decker, Brecken Rushing, Kerry Harlen and Malcolm Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1314, Seminole, Oklahoma 74818. Please indicate that the donation is for the Ray Jacomo family.
