Ralph Dunagan

Ralph Dale Dunagan, 75, lifelong Seminole resident, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Ralph was born January 7, 1945 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Richard O. Dunagan and Mildred Marie (Hankins) Dunagan.

Ralph attended Seminole Public Schools and graduated from Seminole High School in 1963.

Ralph married Janice Kay ( Fretz ) Dunagan on September 12, 1962.

Ralph was a dozer operator for R.O. Dunagan Dozers of Seminole for most of his adult working life. As a dozer operator, he knew his profession well. Planning the jobs he was in charge of, Ralph always made sure the job was done right, and did not leave his work until it was done to his standards. He always gave honest and fair prices.

Ralph was very active in re-starting, Explorer Scout post 478, the same post he was in as a young man.

Ralph was the co-leader of the post for almost 20 years, along with his longtime friend Chuck Chadick. For many years Ralph and the post 478 raised the American Flag at all Seminole Chieftains football home games. Ralph was able to take the scouts on many trips, especially 3 trips to Canada.

Ralph loved hunting and playing golf. Ralph always had a good spirit and great sense of humor.

Ralph had a great love for Seminole Chieftain and OU Sooner Football teams.

Ralph leaves to cherish his memories; his loving wife Janice Dunagan of the home, his son Steve Dunagan, his daughter Sherri McAlvain and her husband Brian of Seminole, Oklahoma, two brothers; Earl Dunagan and his wife Sherri and Danny Dunagan and his wife Patty, eight grandchildren; Autumn, Andrew and Addison Dunagan, Lauren and Brynna McAlvain, Ryan, Zachary and Joseph Dunagan, six great grandchildren; Zoey Veach, Coda Gile, Bailey and Sy Dunagan, Easton Shirell, Olivia and C.J. Berry.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Ronnie Dunagan.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 27, 2020 at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with his longtime friend Chuck Chadick speaking, along with Ralph’s son Steve Dunagan. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be; Brain McAlvain, Rodney Ackerman, Chuck Chadick, Andrew Dunagan, Tommy Chadick and Mike Westmoland.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
