Melodie Osburn

  • Melodie Osburn

Osburn The chic and always fashionable Melodie Beth Osburn left this world on August 11,2024 to be with her Lord as well as a host of family members who were surely awaiting her arrival. What a rejoicing there must have been !

Ms Melodie was born on March 17,1945 to proud parents Ray and Fern McFarland of Seminole OK. Melodie attended school at Seminole and it was there she met the love of her life Glen Osburn. They say he was quite a catch ! They were married in 1960 and proudly welcomed their only child Gregory Glen in June of 1961.

Melodie and Glen became residents of Okla City where they opened the first of 2 hair salons having recently graduated Cosmetology School. Glen and Mels Hair Fashions, for many years, was where Okla Cities style setters could be found. Being an accomplished stylist wasn’t the only way Melodie spent her time. She was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, arts and crafts of any kind, as well as traveling with her best friend and sister Marquita. Melodie traveled the US extensively as well as Mexico and Europe. One of her favorite past times was snow skiing with family and friends in Taos NM. Quite an accomplished and avid skier she exhibited great poise on the slopes.

Melodies friends were abundant, as she was always available and happy to lend a hand. She never met a stranger, was kind to all, and was a lifelong animal lover.

Illness struck Melodie in the autumn of her life and she increasingly relied on her family and friends. It was at this time she met a young man who became pivotal in the last 9 years of her life. Rodney Hunter became her friend her caregiver and her closest ally. Without his daily care and attention her last years would certainly have not been as rosey.

Melodie is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Melodies family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Village on the Park and The Harrison both in OKC. We would also like to express our gratitude to the staff of Humanity Hospice and their fine team of professionals as well as Tina Payne, Trisha Bishop and of course again Rodney Hunter for the countless hours you spent making a better life for Melodie. To her dear friends our family would like to thank you for your love and support and your cards and visits throughout the years.

Visitation will be Sunday August 18 from 1 to 4pm at Advantage Funeral Home and services to be held Monday August 19 at 11am also at Advantage. Interment following the service will be in Seminole OK at Rest Haven Cemetery.
