Leroy Mitchell, resident of Seminole, passed away peacefully in his home, Sunday, with his family by his side.
Leroy was born February 9, 1948, in Seminole to Lee Mitchell and Grace Coody. He remained in Seminole until his freshman year when he went to Jones Academy in Harthorne and graduated in 1967. Leroy married Debora Ann Marshall on October 3, 1968 in Seminole, OK.
Leroy worked at Axelson for many years before going to work at Wolverine where he retired. Leroy soon went back to work at Oklahoma Pump and Supply. His passion was his wife and children. He coached his daughters’ softball teams, his granddaughters’ softball teams and anyone who needed a coach for their team. He loved watching his son play football and continued watching Seminole football with his grandson Hunter, even after his son graduated. He loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s activities and rarely missed any of them. His family was his entire world. He was the most kind, loving and caring man.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Debbie Mitchell of the home, daughter Jessica Mitchell of the home, son Jason Mitchell of McLoud, OK., and daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and John Lofton of Seminole, OK; grandchildren, Austin Lofton, Garison Carrell, Kolby Lofton, Ryan Mitchell, Lindsey Lofton, Jaden Mitchell, Khya Mitchell, Keaton Mitchell, Jace Mitchell, Roxy Lofton, and Jenna Lofton; great grandchildren, Braxxtyn Prue, Kyler Mitchell, and Koe Parks; brothers, Larry Deere, Jimmy Lindsey, and sister Auggie Lindsey.
Leroy is preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Dola Marshall; granddaughter, Taylor Lofton; grandson, Hunter Still; brothers, George Jones, Anthony Tanyan, Curtis Tanyon, Jimmy Harjo, Alec Lindsey, Charles Lindsey, Bobby Jack Spencer, Sonny Lindsey, and Gene Lindsey; and sisters, Dorothy Davis, Bertha Lindsey, and Mary Crain.
Those serving as casket bearers will be Jaden Mitchell, Jace Mitchell, John Lofton, Jason Deere, Carsie Gorman, Michael Johnson, and Jaelin Jones.
Leroy’s family will be available for visitation, Wednesday, August 31, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
Services will be Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole, with Leroy’s nephew, Mark Marshall, officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery in Seminole. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
