Leroy Meek

Leroy Meek, 78-year old Midwest City, Oklahoma resident, passed away on November 20, 2020 in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

He was born May 15, 1942 in Seminole County, Oklahoma to parents Ruben James Meek and Emmer Bell (Hilton) Meek.

He married his first true love, Alice Champ of Seminole, Oklahoma on April 6, 1960 and they were married 49 years until her passing.

As a child he worked on a dairy farm and then after marrying Alice they moved to Wyoming where he worked at Western Nuclear for 6 years mining uranium.

They then moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma and Leroy was self-employed as a mason until he retired at age 70.

He was baptized in the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was strong in his faith in God. Anywhere he went he was always sure to leave a gospel Bible tract behind. He loved reading his Bible, fishing, camping, dancing, singing and being around family and friends. He had always been the caretaker of his family and he never asked for help. Leroy married his second true love, Virginia Burch on October 8, 2016.

Leroy is survived by his wife Virginia Meek of the home in Midwest City, Oklahoma, his children; Danny Meek and his wife Monica of Checotah, Oklahoma, Tammy (Meek) Cross and her husband Robert of Seminole, Oklahoma and Michael Meek and his wife Marites of Harrah, Oklahoma, brother; Altus Meek of Newalla, Oklahoma, grandchildren; Shelly, Kelly, Rocky, Eric, Josh, Tasha, Nathan, Kane, Levi, Jehmar, Kyle, Venice and Syra, great-grandchildren; Tyson, Mason, Maylee, Pyper, Kimmie, Aiden, Gage, David, Audrey, Azi, Ambriela, Wyatt, Kamell, Kase, Kimber, Brylie, Addisyn and Haley, greatgreat grandchild; Asher, step-daughters; Anita and Leanne and step-grandchildren; Mikaela and Nyah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Emmer and Ruben Meek, his wife of 49 years; Alice Meek, his nephew; Dicky and his great-grandson; Matthew Dylan.

Sayings from Leroy to his children when they were growing up; “I’ve built the foundation and when you leave home you can either build up on that foundation or let it crumble” and “We are to love one another because we are all like flowers, we come in all shapes, sizes and colors, so treat everyone with kindness and love”.

Funeral services for Leroy will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Pastor Nathan Hurlburt officiating. Burial will follow at Wolf Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Eric Cross, Josh Cross, Nathan Cross, Kane McKee, Rocky Meek and Gene Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Levi Meek, Shannon Mann and Kaleb Stewart.

Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
