Jerry Bowen
Jerry Ray Bowen, longtime Seminole, Oklahoma resident, passed away at his home on January 17, 2021. He was born on June 27, 1951 in Prague, Oklahoma to parents E.C. and Billie Faye (Bishop) Bowen. Jerry graduated from Seminole High School in 1969. Jerry married Patti Meeks on October 23, 1987 in Gainesville, Texas.
Jerry loved his community and proudly served as a Seminole Firefighter for 25 years before retiring as Captain in 1997. Jerry was a devoted husband, father and friend who enjoyed making people laugh. He loved being outdoors and staying busy. His many hobbies included golfing, playing dominoes and throwing horseshoes. Jerry’s life was an adventure and he touched many lives. He made many extraordinary friends. His legacy lives on through his family and friends and the memories they shared.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 33 years, his son; Branon Bowen, his daughter; Branish Bowen, his grandsons; Austin Bowen, Peyton Bowen and Dawson Carney, his brother; JC Bowen and his wife Lark and their children; Amanda Speer and her husband Todd and their family and Travis Beeson and his family, his sister; Janet Cox and her sons; Bryan Cox and his wife Kelli and their family and Brad Cox and his family, his father-in-law; Jack Meeks, brother-inlaw; Mark Meeks and his wife Marcie and their son Dalton and his wife Dedra and their family. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ricky.
Special family friends include Scott and Mia Childers and Ralph and Amber Britton. The family would like to thank Traditions Health team members; Ramona, Evelyn, Heather, Brett and Tamara and Dr. Feuerborn and his staff for their incredible care, compassion and wisdom.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole, Oklahoma with Roy Boydstun and Dale Auld officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Jerry’s memory to the Seminole Firefighters Association, 900 N. Harvey Road, Seminole, Oklahoma.
Service arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma.
