James Walker
James “Carlton” Walker, lifelong Konawa resident, passed away July 13, 2021 at his home at the age of 56. Carlton was born July 16, 1964 in Wewoka, OK to Walter and Elaine (Sutton) Walker. He graduated from Konawa High School. Carlton worked for his father at Walker Brothers Drilling in Konawa for many years. He spent 19 years of dedicated service as shop foreman at A & J Transportation in Ada as a diesel mechanic. There was nothing about diesel engines he did not know.
Carlton lived a very quiet life and was a man of few words. His passions were hunting, fishing, gardening and anything and everything NASCAR. He recently became a grandpa, AKA “No No”, to a granddaughter, Addilynn. He wasn’t much of a hugger but hugging her was special to him.
In 2003 Carlton met the love of his life, Amy Pemberton and they soon were wed in 2004.
Survivors include his wife, Amy Walker of the home; two sons, Hunter Frye and Brandon Oliphant and his wife Lexi and granddaughter, Addilynn Oliphant; his bonus daughter, Kaley Oliphant; daughter, Barbara Walker and granddaughter, Makala Cosper; his mother, Elaine Walker; brother, Warren Walker; sister, Rhonda Walker; two nieces, Haley Walker and Maelee Walker; two nephews, Zac Walker and Levi Walker. Carlton and Levi had a special relationship ranging from striper fishing to hunting coyotes. Extended family includes Andy and June Nemecek who loved Carlton like a son; Alan and Cissy Winton, Tony and Diane Nemecek, Joe and Sandy Nemecek, Wes and Dana Sanford, Alex and Andi Jo Siaz, Jamie Lassiter and Mike May. Carlton had made many friendships along the way. Special friends include Roger Prater, Kylor Pool and Jon Roth.
Carlton was preceded in death by his father, Walter and his grandmother, Louise Sutton.
Services for Carlton will be private and quiet, just like him.
