Fern King
Veda “Fern” King passed away Thursday, June 17th, 2021 at her home in Konawa, Oklahoma.
Fern was born December 19th, 1933 in Sasakwa, Oklahoma to Troy and Sarah Walton Doolen. Fern graduated Vamoosa High School. She attended college and later married Dempsey Joe King in Konawa on November 6, 1951. Fern was a Insurance Agent and Real Estate Broker and Bail Bondsmen in Konawa. She started her agency in 1977. Fern was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, Oklahoma Bondsman Association, Independent Insurance Agents of Oklahoma and Vamoosa Baptist Church. Fern also worked at Oklahoma State Bank for 3 years and First National Bank Insurance Department for 17 years. Fern enjoyed raising cattle, baking, and attending her grandchildren’s sports and Ag events.
Fern is survived by her son, Jonathan and wife Charla King of Sasakwa, daughter, Julie and husband Leslie Henderson of Konawa, son, Armando Olivera of Konawa, grandchildren, Wacey and wife Blaire Henderson, ShiAnn Henderson, Amber Gray and husband Josh, Kellan King and wife Kara, Kayden King, Kylar King, Kristin Hall and Chanelle Foster, great grandchildren, Jeffery King, Aiden Gray, Landry Gray, Saige Henderson, Ireland King, caregivers, Phyllis Yahola, Debra McIntyre, Jalena Murphy, Linda Harjo and Margaret Brown.
Fern is preceded in death by her parents, Husband, Joe King, sons, Byron King, Scott King and grandson, Jason King, siblings, Johnnie Collinsworth, Jessie Doolen Ward, Ann Houston and Harrison Doolen.
Pallbearers are Armando Olivera, Wacey Henderson, Kellan King, Kylar King, Layton Little and Jacques Byrd. Honorary Pallbearers are Chisam Moore, Lane Mills, Cody Mills, Ty Mills and Jeffery King.
Viewing will be Saturday 1pm to 8pm, Sunday 1pm to 5pm, Monday family will greet guest from 6pm to 8pm at Estes-Phillips Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 2pm Tuesday June 22, 2021 at the Konawa PAC Auditorium with interment to follow at Vamoosa Cemetery.
