Escar Goodrich
Escar Edward (Eck) Goodrich was born June 5 ,1934 and passed from this life on December 12, 2023 at 89 years old in Ft Worth, TX surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Glover Goodrich of Ft Worth; one daughter, Lisa Goodrich Evans and husband, Kevin of Plano, TX; and one son, Frank Edward Goodrich and wife, Toyya of Ft Worth, TX; seven grandchildren: Reagan Evans and wife, Amy of Tampa, FL; Rachael Evans Stimson and husband, Chris of Richardson, TX; Rebecca Evans Bratcher and husband, Lee of Richardson, TX; Rylie Evans Brookins and husband, David of Plano, TX; Helena Goodrich, Oliva Goodrich and Henry Goodrich of Ft Worth, TX; and nine great-grandchildren: Weston Evans, Lucy Evans, Austin Evans, Roger Stimson, Ruby Stimson, Daisy Stimson, Mckenzie Bratcher, Ivy Bratcher, and Kayli Bratcher.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Pat Clark, Lynn Clark, Bobby Clark, Gail Goodrich Brenneman, Bruce Goodrich, Frankie Carpenter, Kevin Goodrich, Pam Goodrich, Karen Goodrich, Brian Goodrich and Travis Goodrich.
On February 7, 1959 Eck married Gloria Glover. They spent their first 40 years in the oilfields of West Texas and moved back to Konawa on the South Canadian River in 1996 where Eck had enjoyed fishing in his childhood with his uncle Charlie Pairet. He enjoyed hunting and fishing on his place the last 26 years of his life. Many of his friends and relatives were the beneficiaries of the fried catfish caught and cooked on the banks of the river.
Eck became a believer in Jesus in the spring of 1959 in Odessa, TX. His life was never the same, knowing he belonged to his Savior and the family of God for eternity. His favorite scripture was John 1:12, “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
Eck began working at a young age of 11 bailing hay in the Bend on the South
Canadian River, became a barber in his early 20’s and then entered the oilfield as a roughneck and eventually a field trained engineer and owning his own production. He decided he wanted to get his pilot’s license so he and his family could travel easily from Abilene to Konawa to see family and eat at Bob’s BBQ. He eventually flew all over the US, to Canada and Mexico.
He served in the United States Army for 2 years, from 1957-1959.
Everyone who knew Eck found him to be extremely generous, kind and hospitable, never met a stranger and dearly loved his family. His wit and humor remained strong until the very end of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Escar Frank Goodrich and Freda Rebecca Pairet Goodrich, also four brothers: Ralph Goodrich, Jack Goodrich, Larkin Goodrich, and Charlie Goodrich; three sisters: Ada Mae Marveli and husband Tony, Mary Clark and husband, J.T., Wanda Williams and husband, Carl. Viewing will be Friday, December 15, 2023, 5:007:00 pm at the Swearingen Funeral home in Konawa. The service will be at the Assembly of God Church in Konawa, Oklahoma on Saturday, December 16th, 2023 at 11:00 am. Internment will be at Vamoosa Cemetery.
