Seminole resident, Emma Mae (Fick) Rose, passed away, Thursday, June 8th, 2023, in Shawnee.

Emma, the daughter of Ernest Sr. and Opal (Troy) Fick, was born November 30, 1928, in Derby Kansas. Emma’s family moved to Okemah, where she graduated high school. On July 6, 1945, she married her high school sweetheart, Van Rose, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. While living in Okemah, Emma was a switchboard operator, when she and Van decided to start their family, she left her job to keep the home and raise their children. In her later years, after she and Van had relocated to Seminole, Emma was a bank teller at Seminole First National Bank for many years. Emma and Van were faithful members of Ideal Street Baptist Church in Seminole, among her many duties at the church, she taught a Sunday School class. In addition to giving of her time at the church, Emma volunteered at the hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Mike Rose; and a brother, Ernest Fick Jr.

Emma is survived by her son and daughtersin- law, Curtis and Nancy Rose of Rattan, and Laura Rose of Seminole; grandchildren, Kurt Rose of Sapulpa, Missy Kropp of Oologah, Michael Rose of Seminole, and Matthew Rose of Tulsa; great grandchildren, Emily Rose, Ridge Rose, Reid Rose, Carson Kropp, Kennedy Kropp, Cash Rose and Blair Rose; special friends, Vicky White, and Jean and David Conger; and many other family members and friends.

Services will be Monday, June 12, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Ideal Street Baptist Church in Seminole. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Okemah. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
