On the evening of March 8, 2023 at 8:17P.M. Edward, Jr. peacefully entered eternal rest at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 65.
He was born December 10, 1957, in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Edward Lee Alford, Sr. and Lee Ann (Smith) Alford. He was the fourth of eight siblings, the middle son of five boys.
He graduated in 1976 from Wewoka High School. He attended Seminole State College and Langston University on basketball scholarships.
He is preceded in death by his loving and devoted parents; sister Sharon Annette; grandparents George and Bernice Alford; Hollis Earl Smith and Myrtle Webster-Wilson; Niece, Dionisia R. Bruner. Nephews, Carlos A. Duke, Brylon Edward Carr and Hunter Edward Carr.
Edward, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory one son, Edward Lee Alford, III; Daughter-In-Law, Stephanie Alford. 5 Grandchildren: Shy’enne Denise Miller, Evan Lee Alford, Ethan Ramond Lee Alford, Vanessa Marie Alford, and Yasmin Delois Lee Ann Alford. 2 Great Grandchildren, Araiyah and Hayden Oages. Four Brothers: Earl L. Alford (Rena); Gary L. Alford (Norman, Ok); Brent LaWayne Alford (Wichita, Ks); G. Ray Alford (Tracey) Wylie, Tx; Two loving and devoted sisters: Gloria Alford-Carr (Tomball, Tx) and Montria (DeeDee) Alford Wewoka, Ok; Uncles: Dr. T. J. Roberts of Oklahoma City, OK; Willie Alford (JoAnn) of San Carlos, Ca; Aunts: Violet Patterson of Tulsa, OK and Merdine Black of Pearland, TX. Special nieces: Deontria RaeAnn Bruner and Kyra S. Williams- Young. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at Stout-Phillips Chapel with Rev. Willie Guient (Middle Creek Missionary Baptist Church) officiating. Interment to follow at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka, OK.
Attire: In honor of Edward, Jr. please wear your favorite Orange and black attire (representing Wewoka Tigers and OSU Cowboys).
