Dustin Smith
Dustin “Dusty” Steve Smith, a resident of Earlsboro, OK, passed from this earthly life on Friday, September 22, 2023 in an Oklahoma City hospital at the age of 36. Dusty was born on May 4, 1987 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to John Paul Smith and Margaret M (Bostwick) Smith.
Dusty grew up in this area and worked in several capacities as a young man. Most recently, he owned a wrecker service call Cut Rate Towing and he worked with his father in the salvage yard business. Prior to that he worked at Mills Well Service of Seminole as a roustabout hand for approximately 5 years.
Dusty married the love of his life, Shonda Luna on August 6, 2011 in Shawnee and they remained happily married for twelve years prior to his death.
Dusty loved working on cars, camping and fishing, and adding new pieces to his collection of eagles. He was a loving son, brother, father and uncle and he will be missed by the many people who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his cousin, Howard Davis; his aunt, Helen Ruth Bales; a daughter, Kaylee Smith; an uncle, Walter Bostwick; a niece, Olivia Lynn Ross; and by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Dusty is survived by his wife, Shonda Smith of the home; two daughters, Karleigh Smith and Raleigh Smith of the home; a fosterchild of the home; his father and mother, John Paul Smith and Margaret M Smith of Seminole; his father-in law and mother-in-law, Tim and Ramona Luna, a brother, John Paul Smith, Jr. of McAlester, OK; sisters Tammy Dehart and husband Bradley of Seminole and Michelle Smith of Shawnee; his twin sister, Dixie Butler of Seminole; numerous other extended family and many good friends.
A funeral service for Dusty will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 10:00am at Immanuel Fellowship Church, 3103 Highway 3 North, Seminole, OK with David Swift officiating. Interment will follow immediately at Smith Family Cemetery in Seminole. Arrangements have been entrusted to McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee.
Pallbearers will be Chris Keisman, Dalton Smith, Dallas Odle, Joe Foutz, Jesse Totty, and James Ross. Honorary pallbearers will be Jamal Butler, Nyland Chaffin, and Jonathan Totty.
