“Alma Cecelia Kemp, known to all as “Cece”, Wewoka resident, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 in her home at the age of 73. Alma was born on February 22, 1949 in Baltimore, Maryland to Perry Elmer and Francis Smith. Cece lived in many places, but spent most of her life in Arizona and Oklahoma.

She dedicated many years to Butner Public Schools.

Cece is survived by her son, Joel Canaga and wife, Maria Canaga of Shawnee, OK; brother, Eddy Smith of Baltimore, MD; sister, Theresa Smith of Houston, TX; two grandchildren, Alex Canaga and Sophia Canaga of Shawnee, OK and many other family and friends.

Cece is preceded in death by her mother Francis Smith; father, Perry Smith; devoted husband, Mel Kemp; and loving daughter, Nikki Canaga.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Oklahoma. Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Wewoka, OK at 3:00 p.m. on February 14, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to Foster Family Support Network Hughes & Seminole Counties C/O First United Methodist Church Wewoka. Cece was an active member of this ministry that serves many needs in the community.”
