Carol Anderson of Wewoka passed away in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on the morning of December 8, 2019, at the age of 81. Born on March 9, 1938, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Erol and Luella Austin, Carol Lee Austin grew up in Guthrie, Oklahoma City and Wewoka.

She graduated Wewoka High School, class of 1956. Later that year, she married O.R. “Tokey” Dinsmore, with whom she raised two sons. The family spent time living in Nebraska, Texas, New Mexico, Kansas, Wyoming, Georgia and Louisiana as well as Oklahoma. Carol spent much of her career keeping books for family owned businesses and as an employee of other businesses.

This detail-oriented mindset translated into a distinct intentionality with which she would tell stories of her experiences. She loved fishing, water skiing, camping, reading, sewing, her flower gardens and traveling. Later in life, she enjoyed telling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren the tales of earlier generations. After retirement from Wewoka Medical Rural Health Clinic, Carol traveled with family and friends around the country as well as destinations in Europe and Cuba.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dr. Sandra Thomson of Los Angeles, California; and beloved husband, George Hand of Wewoka.

Carol is survived by her son, Jeff Dinsmore and spouse Jeannie of Wewoka; son, Steve Dinsmore and spouse Nancy of Durant; grandson, Mike Dinsmore and spouse Brooke of Durant; grandson David Dins-more and spouse Amy of Shawnee; grandson Drew Dinsmore and spouse Maggie of Dubberly, Louisiana; granddaughter Maci Gibby and spouse Bobby of Durant; Jon Eric Dinsmore and spouse Shanna of Flower Mound, Texas; and granddaughter Lauren Dinsmore of Denver, Colorado; 11 great-grandchildren; and partner, Dr. Tom Williams.

A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2019, at Stout-Phillips Funeral Home, 409 S. Wewoka Ave. in Wewoka. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at ALZ.org or 1-800-272-3900.

Services are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home.
