Billy Dean “Bill” Compton was born June 26,

1947 in Oklahoma City, OK to Sherod Dean and Loretta Mae (Anderson) Compton.

He died Wednesday, October 9, 2019 in Sulphur, at the age of 72 years, 3 months and 13 days.

Bill grew up in the Blanchard area. He was a 1965 graduate of Capital Hill High School.

In 1966, he joined the United States Navy, serving until he was honorably discharged in 1968. Following his service to our country,

Bill worked as a boiler-man for NOAH Research. Later, he worked as a ranch foreman; as well as a cross-country truck driver. After leaving truck driving, Bill spent the last years of his working career as a diesel mechanic.

Bill had a passion for horses and reading. He also enjoyed playing pool and spending time with his family and friends. Bill was a 32-degree Mason.

Survivors include one daughter, Dena Sires of San Antonio, TX; two grandchildren, Angel and Scott; four sisters, Bobbie Presson, Shirley Fisher, Sharon Toddish and Charlotte Smith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Sherod Compton; mother Loretta Spowart; stepfather, Leroy E. Tarr, Sr; and stepbrother, Leroy E Tarr, Jr.

A memorial service will be held on October 27, 2019.
