Betty Wood
Wood Seminole resident, Betty Louise Wood, 87, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2024, at her home.
Betty, the daughter of Stell and Jewell (Gray) Cosby, was born December 21, 1936, in Harden City, Oklahoma, south of Ada. On January 7, 1956, she married Allen Wood, in Stratford, she and Allen would enjoy 66 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2022. She was a school secretary and babysat numerous children over the years. Betty was a devoted preacher’s wife and loved attending and participating in church activities and listening to Gospel music, as well as with quilting, Thunder basketball and OU women’s softball.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Allen; and two brothers, Carlon Cosby and Jimmie Cosby.
Betty is survived by her sons and daughter-inlaw, Gary Wood and wife Linda, of Ada, and Greg Wood, of Seminole; five grandchildren, Matthew Wood, Jeremy Wood, Britni Gallina, Courtni Wood and Jesse Wood; ten great grandchildren, one great greatgrandchild; a sister, Pat Wood; brothers, Donald Cosby, Roger Cosby, Frank Cosby and wife Barbara, and Kevin Cosby; a brother-in-law, Larry Wood, of Stratford; two sisters-in-law, Judy McCurley, of Sand Springs, and Jane Magar, of Stratford; and many other family members and friends.
Those serving as casket bearers will be Matt Wood, Jeremy Wood, Rob Gallina, Dreken Gallina, Gunner Gallina, and Ryland Green.
Honorary casket bearers will be Jesse Wood, David Wood, Britni Gallina, Taylor Allison, Courtni Wood, and Linda Wood.
Services will be Friday, November 22, at 1:00 P.M. at the Seminole Freewill Baptist Church, with interment to follow at the McGee Cemetery, in Stratford. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
