Oklahoma. The landmark ruling, which was decided July 9, 2020, established the Muscogee (Creek) Nation’s authority over a large portion of land in eastern Oklahoma, and granted jurisdiction to either tribal or federal (not state) authorities regarding crimes involving Native Americans. It has also been assumed to have set a precedent for the rest of the Five Tribes (the Seminole, Cherokee, Chickasaw, and Choctaw Nations, respectively).
