While the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy (OICA) primarily works with state policies, there are often federal issues which we try to engage our advocates in calling for better opportunities. One of these policies is support for the bipartisan “Protecting America’s Children by Strengthening Families Act,” which would invest critical new resources in Title IV-B and provide needed policy improvements. We have joined the Oklahoma Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics in calling for congressional support for the enhanced efforts described below.

As vegetarianism continues to grow in popularity, some may wonder how they can transition from eating and drinking foods and beverages derived from animal products to plant-based alternatives. Vegetarian diets can be healthy, but only if they are balanced.

Guests are eagerly awaiting the debut of Mohan, an Indian rhinoceros, also known as a greater one-horned rhinoceros, and newest member of the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden’s animal family. The 5-yearold male rhino is in quarantine at the OKC Zoo’s rhino barn and outdoor habitat after arriving from the Buffalo Zoo, but is soon expected to be on public view at Sanctuary Asia.
