James Coplin

James “J” Coplin (also known as JW or Jim) peacefully passed away on December 31, 2021 at the age of 75, in his home in Midwest City, Oklahoma watching football in his favorite chair.

James was born on June 15th, 1946 to Ava and Porter Coplin in Great Bend, Kansas. After James graduated from Seminole High School, he went on to study business at the University of Oklahoma. While James attended OU, he was drafted into the Army and proudly served in the Vietnam War. He then returned to the University of Oklahoma to graduate with a BA in Accounting. He was a huge OU fan and longtime season pass holder. James went on to have a successful career in the oil and gas industry.

In 1972 James met the love of his life, Linda Wilkerson, on a blind date. In 1974 they were married in Seminole, Oklahoma in the middle of a snow storm. They welcomed their daughter, Lisa, into their family who was his pride and joy. He also enjoyed coaching her softball team for 11 years.

James had a big heart and fun wit. He treasured his friends and family. James called his best friend, Roger Friar, every day. He also enjoyed golfing, being involved in his high school reunions, and playing with his grandkids.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother Bob, and younger brother Ricky. He is survived by his wife of 47 years; his daughter, Lisa; and two grandchildren, Teagan and Zane. Memorial services will

Memorial services will be held at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home (8805 NE 23rd St, Oklahoma City, OK) on January 11th, 2022 at 10:00 am. In leu of flowers the family requests donations to the OMRF (Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation) in James’s name.
