Howard Adams
Mr. Howard E. Adams, 59, of Seminole, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 1999 at Shawnee Regional Hospital of cancer, a short-known illness to him and his family.
As a young man, he entered the Army and served for 16 years during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War.
After basic training he was sent to Germany. It was there that he met his lovely wife, Rosemarie Bertsch.
They have been married for 37 years.
Howard was born in Webster County, W.Va. on Jan. 2, 1940.
He is the son of the late Ralph "Sox" Adams and Phelma (Blake) Adams.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ralph, and an infant brother, Paul Leroy.
Mr. Adams worked overseas for Haliburton Oilfield Services doing offshore drilling.
He went to work for them in 1974 after his military service.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ralph Adams, Seminole, and Billy and Sophia Adams, Seminole; one daughter, Petra Thurman, Hot Springs, Ark.; one granddaughter, Taylor Jo Adams; one grandson, Joshua Briley; three stepgrandsons, Chase, Dillon and Dakota; one brother, Edgel Adams and his wife, Dora Jean, of Cowen, W.Va.; four sisters, Margie and her husband, Howard Barry, Tulsa, June and her husband, Jack Whitney, Cottageville, W.Va., Ruth Gibbs, Camden-on-Gauley, W.Va., and Irene and her husband, Otis Addington, Cottle, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee.

Graveside services for Maud resident Pauline Geneva Adams, 70, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Konawa Cemetery.
Rev. Mitch Williams will officiate at the services. Burial arrangements are under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home, Konawa.
Adams died Tuesday, July 13, 1999.
She was born Aug. 28, 1928 in Heavener to Emma Marie and Walker Bolton.
A homemaker, she was of the Baptist faith, and had lived in Maud for the past 20 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Sharp, Wynnewood, and Linda Morrison, Seminole; one son, Jimmy Adams, Maud; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Neil Addington
Graveside services for Konawa resident Neil Sterling Addington, 57, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Addington died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999 in Oklahoma City.
He was born June 7, 1942 in Konawa to Viola and James Addington.
A veteran, he had served with the United States Army.
He had been a Konawa resident since 1970.
Addington married Edith Vivian McGill on June 11, 1971 in Gainesville, Texas. She survives him of the home.
Addington was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Other survivors include one daughter, Linda Burke, Woodward; one stepdaughter, Kathy Landrum, Tahlequah; one stepson, Dean Kelly, Konawa; three sisters, Marie Farris, Boise City, Stella Peoples, Konawa and Linda Arnold, South Carolina; and seven grandchildren.

Olan Allen
Funeral services for native Wewokan Olan Woodrow Allen, 84, were held today at Oakwood Cemetery.
Minister Doris Weisser officiated at the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel in Shawnee.
Allen died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999 at his home in Shawnee.
He was born Sept. 22, 1914 in Wewoka to Uriah Soloman and Lena (Ladd) Allen.
A veteran, he served in the US Army 160th Field Artillery during World War II, and received three bronze service stars.
Allen attended Wewoka Schools, and worked as an electrician at Tinker Air Force Base before retiring in 1974.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Allen was married to Ruth Marie Allen, who survives him of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.
Other survivors include three sons, Olan Allen Jr., Santa Clara, Calif., Johnnie David Allen, Overland Park, Kan., and Denver Jay Allen, Shawnee; two daughters, Sherrie Smith, Renton, Wash., and Kathryn Kay Sheesley, Moore; three sisters, Ruby Sharum, Orange, Calif., Wilma Neal, Wewoka, and Alice Carter, Eugene, Ore.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Velva Allred
Velva Young Allred, 83 year-old Seminole resident, died June 17 in her home.
Funeral services were held at First Baptist Church of Calvin under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
Rev. David McDougal and Rev. Jim Lawrence officiated. Burial was in Blue Ridge Cemetery.
Allred was born Nov. 14, 1915, in Seymore, Texas, to Rosie Lee (DeShaz) and Albert Clayton Young.
She was raised in the Calvin area and attended Gerty Schools, where she graduated in 1933.
She lived in Oklahoma City, and later Atwood, before moving to Seminole in 1994.
Allred was a Freewill Baptist.
She married Gene Allred on Oct. 3, 1942, in El Reno. He survives her, of the home.
Other survivors include one son, Stanley Allred, Oklahoma City; one daughter, Gail Rooms, Seminole; one brother, Oscar Lee Young, Earlsboro; three sisters, Gertrude Nose, Odessa, Texas, Juanita Bolinger and Wanda Parks, both of Atwood; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, A.C. Young; and one sister, Lillie Helbert.

Darryl Alsip
Graveside services for Maud graduate Darryl Ray Alsip, 39, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Romulus Cemetery in Romulus.

Alsip died Wednesday, April 21, 1999 in Shawnee.
He was born Aug. 4, 1959 in Shawnee to Bob and Cora Alsip.
He attended school at Maud, then at Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech.
Alsip was an appliance repairman for A&A Appliances.
He was preceded in death by his mother; grandmothers Della Stewart and Estelle Alsip; and grandfather Jim Corbett Alsip.
Survivors include two daughters, Renea Williamson and Karlotta Alsip, both of Seminole; one son, Joshua Alsip, Seminole; his father, of Shawnee; four sisters, Sharon Miller, Tecumseh, Lynn Alsip, Earlsboro, Darla Robbins, Shawnee, and Marlene Haynes, Ada; grandfather, Floyd Harjo, Wewoka; and one grandson.

Lee Ames
Lee R. Ames, beloved husband, father, grandfather and son, died Dec. 8, 1999 at home at the age of 58.
He was born June 29, 1941. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Mae Faris Ames; daughters, Jennifer Mae Ames McAnulty and husband, Thomas Neal, and Melissa Mae Ames Shannon.
He was the grandfather of Leisa Mae, Christopher Robert and Cody Ellis Ames Shannon and future son-in-law, Gregory Winston Barton.
Ames is also survived by his mother, Mary L. Ames of Seminole.
He was preceded in death by his father, Virl Ames.
Ames graduated from Capitol Hill High School and attended the University of Oklahoma.
He was a typesetter and graphic artist for 30 years, retiring from the Journal Record Publishing Co. and was owner of Alphasource, Inc., from 1979 to 1991.
Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12 at Guardian Midtown Funeral Home Chapel, Oklahoma City.

Samuel Anders
Funeral services for Konawa resident Samuel Albert Anders, 84, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Pickard Funeral Home Chapel.

Anders died Tuesday, April 20, 1999 at Konawa.
He was born Dec. 31, 1914 in Vamoosa to Margaret Virginia and Lafayette Anders.
An oilfield worker, Anders lived in the Konawa area all of his life, and was a member of the Church of Christ of Sasakwa.
He married Madge Anders in Ada on Sept. 15, 1947. She survives him of the home.
Other survivors include Emily Loden, California, Marina Sue White, Shawnee and Carman Jane Green, Vamoosa; one son, Ulyesses Sammy Anders, of the home; one brother, Warren Anders, Chickasha; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Donna Anderson
Funeral services for former Sasakwa resident Donna Mae (Potter) Anderson, 93, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Anderson died Sunday, June 13, 1999 in Clinton, Mo.
She was born Feb. 22, 1906 near Downing, Texas to Charlcie Elizabeth and Robert R. Potter.
Anderson moved to Sasakwa with her family in 1913, and attended rural schools there.
She later attended high school in Holdenville. She was baptized at age 13, and attended Lone Dove Baptist Church in Sasakwa.
Later Anderson became a member of Trinity Baptist Church, were she stayed for 34 years.
She worked as a supervisor of her silver plating unit at Pratt Whitney defense plant in Kansas City, Mo., during World War II.
Anderson married Vander Barker, who preceded her in death, then to Lucien Rogers.
During World War II, she married Amel Anderson; he also preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, an infant daughter, Maxine Rogers; sons Kenneth and Carl Barker; four brothers and two granddaughters.
Survivors include one daughter, Verba Dean Hills, Deepwater, Mo.; one son, L.B. Rogers, Shawnee; stepdaughter, Marjorie Anderson Cain, Delphos, Kan.; two sisters, Kathryn Bush, Pacifica, Calif., and Cora Jean Kitchel, Houston, Texas; one brother, Jeff D. Potter, Shawnee; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family has suggested that expressions of sympathy may be made to Trinity Baptist Church in Shawnee or the McGee Eye Research Center in Oklahoma City.

Anderson died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999 at Okemah Pioneer Nursing Home.
He was born June 11, 1920 in Seminole to W.F. Wesley Anderson and Lizzie Jane Bryson Anderson.
A veteran, he served in the US Army.
Anderson moved to the Seminole County area 25 years ago from California, and was a retired oil field worker.
He was a resident of Okemah Pioneer Nursing Home at the time of his death.
Survivors include one son, Larry Anderson; three daughters, Virginia Anderson, Janice Anderson and Theresa Anderson, all of California; and several grandchildren.

APPLETON, WIS. - Graveside services for former Seminole resident Gretta Doris Anderson, 92, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa.

Anderson died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999 at Peabody Manor in Appleton.
She was born Sept. 9, 1907 in El Reno to George W. And Georgie (Bradbury) Dawson.
After the death of her father and his remarriage to Wilma (Spark) Beach in 1913, the family moved to Tulsa, where Anderson attended high school.
While living in Seminole from 1930-47, she was a member of the First Methodist Church, where she attended the Wedding Ring Class.
Active in youth activities, Anderson was also a member of he Garden Club.
She was employed at Whitbeck’s Grocery.
She was married to Elmer Martin Anderson on Aug. 26, 1925 in Sapulpa. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1978.
Anderson was also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Glen, Gerald, Guiles, and Gordon.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Hayford, Appleton, Wis.; one son, Robert Anderson, Bloomington; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He worked for 25 years for Amerada Petroleum Company in Seminole, and still worked as a pumper in the oil field.
Arnold was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seminole, a past president of Maud Rotary and the Maud Athletic Club.
He served as a former city councilman for Maud as well as a volunteer fireman.
Arnold graduated from Maud High School in 1943, and coached Little League.
He married Ann Hill on Feb. 26,. 1944 in Maud. She survives him of the home.

Arnold moved to Seminole County from Oklahoma City in 1965, and was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church, Rebekah Lodge and Women’s Auxiliary of the church.
She retired in 1977 as a Medical Arts Laboratory Technician at the Medical Arts Building in Oklahoma City.
Arnold was married to Hoyt E. Arnold on July 28, 1954, in Oklahoma City. He preceded her in death on July 5, 1990.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.
Survivors include three sons, Bobby Willis, Irving, Texas, Jerry W. and Charles Willis, both of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Bonnie Eskew, Sparta, Tenn.; four brothers, Millard Haney, Lodo, Calif., Chester Haney, Alvord, Texas, Arthur Haney, Edmond, and Ray Dean Haney, Grand Prairie, Texas; one sister, Nita Haney Ray, Edmond; eight grandchildren, seven grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Florence Azlin

Azlin died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999 at her Seminole home.
She was born April 23, 1913 in Tecumseh to Ninniam Davis and Maggie (Dulaney) Davis.
Azlin moved to Wewoka in 1925, attending Wewoka Schools.
After living in the Ong Community, she moved back to Wewoka, then to Seminole in 1993.
Azlin was a member of the Wewoka Church of Christ.
She married O.C. Azlin on Sept. 2, 1921 in Bethel. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1973.
She was also preceded in death by both parents, and one infant daughter, Ruby Jeanette Azlin.

He was born May 19, 1927 in Dayton, Iowa to David S. and Lillian Mae (Dutcher) Bailey.
A veteran, he served in the US Navy.
Bailey worked for St. Louis Schools as a maintenance engineer, and also as a carpenter.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Bailey and Steven Bailey; two sisters, Charlene Donahe and Sally Sigler; and one brother David E. Bailey.

Baker died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999 at the Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
She was born July 19, 1934 in Alichi to Millard Kirby Whisenhunt and Francis Victoria (Shields) Whisenhunt.
On Oct. 4, 1955 she married Pat Baker in Grandfield; he survives her of the home.
Baker was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Hoyt, Carl and Clayl Whisenhunt.
Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Teresa Baker, Meeker; three daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Joe Elmore, Karrie and Kelly Joplin and Carla and Mickey Sebourn, all of Seminole; a brother, Coy Whisenhunt, Clebet; five sisters, Opal Davis, Battiest, Hazel Martin, Pickens, Reva Lincicome, Shawnee and Mabel Humphries and Dutch Meeks, both of Calif.

She was born July 19, 1954 in Seminole to Carl and Bertha Worley.
Balentine attended Shawnee schools, and was a member of South Rock Creek Assembly of God Church and the Omega Alpha Ministry.
She was married to Arvil Balentine on Sept. 3, 1986 in Gainesville, Texas. He survives her of the home.

Kathryn Barber
Funeral mass for Kathryn Reese Barber is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Mrs. Barber died Monday morning at her home following a lengthy illness. She was 83.
Born Jan. 31, 1916 in Cisne, Ill. To Homer and Laura (Simmons) Rhoades, she was the third of six daughters.
On Sept. 1, 1933, she married Linden Reese in Salem, Ill. After his death on Jan. 17, 1970, she moved from Flora, Ill. to Seminole, where she worked in retail sales.
She married T.M. "Pete" Barber on Jan. 2, 1978. He preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 1990.
Mrs. Barber was a co-owner of Shady Rest Antiques with her daughter.
She was a former longtime member of the Order of Eastern Star and had served the Salem, Ill., chapter as Worthy Matron.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church here.
Survivors include two sons, James E. Reese, Herndon, Va., and Michael Reese, Joplin, Mo.; one daughter, Shirley Nichols, Seminole; one sister, Mildred Venable, Flora, Ill.; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchild-ren.

Barnard died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999 at an Oklahoma City hospital.
She was born Nov. 19, 1922 in Shawnee to Garner Shawn and Mollie (Sturdavan) Shawn.
A homemaker, she was a lifelong resident of Shawnee.
She was married to Monroe McInturff; he preceded her in death.

He lived most of his life in the Maud area, where he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He graduated from Maud High School in 1988, and was a graduate of the Oklahoma Broadcasting School.
Survivors include his parents, Bob and Carolyn Bassett, Maud; his paternal grandparents, Bill and Tawana Bassett of Cashion; and his brother, Alan Bassett, Maud.
Bassett was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Ed and Laura McCraw.

Bateman served in the Army during World War II. He was a Sunday school teacher, and for the past 25 years lived in the Konawa area.

He married Thelma Jean Wano in Ft. Smith Ark. on Oct. 3, 1950. She preceded him in death on July 14, 1998.

She married Clarence Oliver Beauford in 1922 in Seminole County; he preceded her in death in 1985.
Beauford was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Forrest Daniel Beauford, Claremore, Gerald Kenneth Beauford and Donald Keith Beauford, both of Seminole; seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Beaver died Friday, Jan. 29, 1999 at Holdenville General Hospital.
He was born June 16, 1930 east of Wetumka, and reared in the Salt Creek Community.
Beaver attended schools at Lone Star, Friendship, Bethel and Jones Academy Euches Mission.
A veteran, he served in the US Army for two years.
Beaver worked in construction and also for Boeing Aircraft before retiring in the late 1960’s.
He served as a baseball and softball coach for Holdenville area teams.
Beaver was a member of Salt Creek United Methodist Church.
He married Minnie Beaver in Ada in 1954; she preceded him in death.
Beaver was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jackie Lee; and one brother, John Beaver Jr.

She was married to Charles A. Belveal on July 8, 1955 in Seminole. He survives her of the home.

She married Billy Bennett in 1955 in Oklahoma City; he survives her of the home.
Bennett was also preceded in death by her mother on Jan. 23, 1964, and stepfather Harry Talton on Oct. 19, 1994.

WEWOKA — Funeral services for former Wewoka resident Wesley Bishop, 71, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Stout Chapel.

Bishop died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999 in an automobile accident north of Wewoka.
He was born April 12, 1928, the 10th of 11 children of Joseph Eugene Bishop and Maggie Alice Bishop.
Bishop was raised in Sasakwa and attended Sasakwa school.
He moved to Texas where he met and married Shirley Bullington; they settled in Florence, Ore.
Bishop worked for U.S. Plywood Lumber Mill for 20 years until his retirement in 1975.
He returned to Wewoka until moving to Wetumka in 1997.
He raised fighting roosters and developed a new breed. He also developed and raised a breed of dog that was known for protecting the roosters.
He enjoyed life and knew how to have fun. Bishop was very supportive of his children and family and was always there when he was needed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, John Wesley Upshaw, Claude Upshaw, Wiford Upshaw, Jack Bishop; and his sister, Vessie Bishop.
Survivors are one daughter, Elizabeth Diess, Scappoose, Ore., two sons, Joseph Wesley Bishop, Wetumka, and David Ross Bishop, Holdenville; three brothers, Robert Bishop, Sweethome, Ore., Joe Berry Bishop and Walter "Red" Bishop, both of Wewoka, and Ed Bishop, Bakersfield, Calif.; and one sister, Mamie Phillips, Klamath Falls, Ore.

Bohanon retired from Amarado in 1970, then worked as purchasing agent for Seminole Company.
He then was employed at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens as groundskeeper, then later at Davis Hardware.
Bohanon married Evelyn (Godfrey) Fretz on June 11, 1982 in Seminole. She survives him of the home.
His first wife, Jane (Reed) Bohanon preceded him in death on Aug. 7, 1980.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; seven brothers, Andrew, Abner Sylvester, Howard, Russell Perry, Ellis, Edgar Lee and Sam Bohanon; four sisters, Laura Mae Bohanon Davis Deaton Southard, Ethel Bohanon, Vina Bohanon Bell Selby and Elsie Bohanon Anderson Norris.

Boris was a longtime resident of Chickasha, where she grew up. She move to California later in life, where she lived for 30 years before moving back to Oklahoma in 1987.
She was a former member of the Southwest Church of Christ in Oklahoma City, and currently a member of Church of Christ in Little.
Boris served as a Past Worthy Matron for Eastern Star in Chickasha, and a life member of the Soroptimist Club in California.
She retired as a bank manager in California.
Boris was married to Nelson Manley in 1942; he preceded her in death. She then wed William Boris in 1962; he preceded her in death in 1987 in California.
Boris was also preceded in death by one brother, Albin Dunham, and two sisters, Eva Lena Taff and Georgia Le Dunham.
Survivors include Robert Manley, Valencia, Calif., and Paul Manley, Yorba Linda, Calif.; one sister, Virginia "Betty" McDonald, Seminole; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mary Boswell
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Mary Katherine Boswell, 77, were held today at Avant House of Prayer.
Interment was held at Little Cemetery under the direction of Peters Stumpff Funeral Home, Skiatook.
Boswell died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999 in Avant.
She was born Dec. 13, 1922 at Bald Hill, near Seminole, to Cecil S. and Edda Mae Hays.
Boswell graduated from Mountain View School, and attended college in Norman.
She moved to the state of Washington in 1942, where she worked in the shipyards. She moved back to Oklahoma in 1944.
Boswell was a member of the Avant House of Prayer since 1967, and has been an active member of the Extension Homemakers.
She married Virgil Boswell on June 22, 1939 at the Ferguson Church. He survives her of the home.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Other survivors include one daughter, Kathy Vigna, Seaside, Calif.; two sons, Richard Boswell, Skiatook, and Phillip Boswell, Avant; three sisters, Ida Hyett, Bakersfield, Calif., Flora Mae Nazworth, Seaside, Calif., and Barbara Aston, of California; one brother, Ralph Hays, Yukon; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Bill Bradberry
Graveside services for Seminole resident Bill Bradberry, 73, were held Wednesday at Woodside Cemetery in Shawnee.
Rev. Larry Jones officiated at the service under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel in Shawnee.
Bradberry died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999 at his home.
He was born Nov. 14, 1926 in Grand Salina, Texas.
A machinist, he worked for Eaton and had lived in the Seminole are since 1978, moving from Dallas, Texas.
Bradberry was a member of the Baptist Church.
He married Dolores McClanahan on Nov. 7, 1975 in Durant. She survives him of the home.
Bradberry was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Other survivors include two sons, Gary Bradberry and Michael Bradberry, all of Texas; one stepson, Kenneth Taylor, Maud; one stepdaughter, Brenda Kimbrell, Midlothian, Texas; two adopted daughters, Linda Green and Sherry Bradberry; three sisters, Marie Palmer, Dallas, Wardene Cernshaw, Terrell, Texas and Maudie Wrenn, Wells Point, Texas; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

Bradley lived in Seminole for over 20 years, moving here from Nicoma Park.
She was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Benny Joe Bradley, two brothers, and three sisters.

David Brewer
David "Ryan" Brewer was separated from his mortal body on May 23, 1999. Ryan was born May 10, 1979 in Oklahoma City.
Affectionately known as "Bug," he graduated from McLoud High School in 1997.
During his school years, he enjoyed soccer, band, and Mr. Smith’s science classes.
He was junior at Oklahoma Christian University, where he continued to play his saxophone.
He was proud to call the men of Alpha his brothers, and he still played soccer at every opportunity.
He was an active member of Eastside Church of Christ in Midwest City.
Ryan is survived by his parents, David and Stephanie, brothers Luke and Jacob, sister Elizabeth, grandparents Frank and Gwen Brewer, great-grandmother Inez Willson, aunt Zina Siemer, uncles Kenneth Brewer and Mark Brewer, his special friend and constant companion, Mariah, and a host of relatives, friends, and admirers.
The wise man Solomon said, "A wise son brings joy to his father." Ryan brought us that joy.
He will be remembered for his quiet confidence, his unselfish attitude, and his dependable nature.
We are thankful and blessed he was not ashamed to show and communicate his love for us.
His passing leaves a void that will never be filled.
Ryan has gone home.

Brinsfield moved to Seminole in 1947, coming from Prague.
On Jan. 3, 1947, he married Betty Scott in Seminole; she survives him of the home.
He was a drilling superintendent for Jerry Scott Drilling Company in Seminole until his retirement in 1991.
He was a member of the Church of Christ at Little.
Brinsfield was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Gary Dye.
Other survivors include one daughter, Julie Dye, and one son, Gary Brinsfield, both of Noble, three grandchildren, Melissa (Dye) Lester, Charla Meredith and Bryan Brinsfield and two great-grandchildren, Dalton Lest-er and Trevor Lester.

He married Marjorie Richardson on March 23, 1938 in Wewoka, where they lived for many years.
Marjorie preceded him in death in July, 1998.
Brixey was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Yuless Brixey.
Survivors include one brother, J.O. Brixey, San Diego, Calif.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Brown was the granddaughter of former Seminole Tribal Governor, John F. Brown.
She was a member of the Spring Baptist Church in Sasakwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and one grandson.

John Brown
John Gardner Brown, longtime Holdenville resident, passed away Friday, Sept. 24, 1999 at his home.
He was born on Jan. 26, 1913 in Primghar, Iowa and moved to Holdenville in 1937.
John was devoted to God and family, and lived his life with these priorities in his mind and heart.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Winona (Christian) Brown, in 1996.
Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Bud Keesee, Holdenville, and Linda and Larry Hampton, Seminole.
He has eight grandchildren, Randal Hallum and his wife, Debbie, Mark Hallum, Ryan Hallum, Seminole, Cory Hallum, Corpus Christie, Texas, Susan (Keesee) Jackson and husband Robert, Plano, Texas, Aubie Keesee and his wife, Jackie, Stillwater, Lisa (Hampton) Daughterty and her husband, Shawn, Edmond.
He was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren.
John earned a BA degree in business from the University of Colorado in Boulder, and also completed coursework at Harvard Business College in Boston, Mass.
Following graduation, he began his salesman career with Blish, Mize and Silliman Hardware in Atchison, Kan.
He was transferred to Holdenville in 1937 and met Winona Christian. They were married the same year.
During World War II, he served in the US Navy, earning the rank of Lieutenant J.G.
After his military duty, he resumed his job with Blish, Mize and Silliman. Following his retirement, he worked part time at Ramsey Lumber, Curry Hardware in Wewoka and Wetumka Hardware.
John was a member of Barnard Memorial United Methodist Church in Holdenville.
He was the founder and teacher of the "John Brown Sunday School" class for more than 35 years.
He also served as the District Lay Leader Director and Church School Superintendent.
Services are scheduled for Monday, Sept. 27 at 3 p.m. at Barnard Memorial United Methodist Church under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the John Brown Sunday School Class.
Memorials may be made to the Barnard Memorial United Methodist Church in Holdenville.

He was born June 19, 1922 in Seminole to E.F. and Annie Brown.
A graduate of Varnum High School, Brown also graduated from Seminole Junior College and the University of Oklahoma School of Geology.
Brown was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the Pacific Theater as a pharmacist’s mate in the US Navy.
He worked for Superior Oil Company of Crossville, Ill., and retired as regional superintendent of production.
Brown married Joan Wallace of Seminole in 1948; she survives him of the home.

She was born June 28, 1909 in Hutchison, Kan. to Clifford C. and Henryetta (Cutler) Wolfe.
The family moved to Stella, Neb., where she attended school and then moved to Oklahoma City where she became a nurse and worked at Tinker Field.
Brown moved to Wewoka in 1952, and became a member of the First Christian Church in 1970.
She moved into the Wewoka Nursing Home in 1995, and remained there until her death.
She married Lawrence Foster Brown in May of 1952; he preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 1983.
Brown was also preceded in death by her father, in 1950; her mother in 1971; one son, James Brown, in 1978; two brothers, Robert Wolfe and Donnell Wolfe; and two sisters, Virginia Ainsworth and Joann Poole.
Survivors include her children, Foster Brown, Ada, Maudine Warren, Stockton, Calif.; Lawrence Brown Jr., Marlow, Betty Morrison, Stockton, Calif., and Pat Ball, Montana; one brother, Francis T. Wolfe, Tucson, Ariz.; and 12 grandchildren.

Brown was a simple man as even his name suggests. He never put on airs and was most comfortable at his home or on the bank of some fishing hole, fishin’.
He was a hard working man, and his word was his bond. He lived life, cash and carry and anyone who entered his home was family.
Brown would want you to get something to eat and always told you, you’d better stay all night.
Yes, he was a simple man and that is what we loved the most. We’re going to miss you honey, daddy, brother, bud, father-in-law, grandpa, great-grandpa, son, uncle and friend.
Brown was preceded in death by his mother, Novella Boatman, brother, Leon Ray Brown, and daughters Kathy Brown and Judy Romano.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Brown, of the home; one son, Billy "Bill" Brown, Seminole; daughters and sons-in-law, Becky Sullivan, California, and Debbie and Max Fairchild, Oklahoma City; Cheryl and John Janes, Holdenville, and son-in-law, Fred Romano, of Texas.

Brumley died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999 in Wewoka.
She was born Jan. 9, 1919 in Battiest to James and Georgia "Wade" Jackson.
Brumley was raised in Battiest until she moved to Wewoka in November, 1939.
She was employed with Big Yank Clothing Factory in 1964, and retired in the spring of 1989 after 25 years of service.
Brumley remained in Wewoka until the time of her death.
She married John Paul Brumley on July 20, 1940 in Wewoka. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1991.
Brumley was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Clifton Jackson, Raymond Jackson, Freeman Jackson, Johnny Jackson and Haskell Jackson; and one sister, Bessie Belcher.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna P. Gaylor, and Linda Page, both of Wewoka; two sons, Mike Brumley and Pat Brumley, both of Wewoka; two sisters, Pauline Blanton, Wewoka, and Eunice Hensley, Hominy; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

John Bruner
John Booker Bruner was born in the Johnson Community north of Wewoka on Oct. 31, 1919.
The sixth of eight children born to Benjamin Bruner and Lydia Johnson Bruner, he is preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Charlesetta, Louella, Palma, Quansuella and Helvechia "Peaches;" and two brothers, Nahum and Hiawatha.
A son, William, niece, Angela Lois; and nephews, Nahum Jr., Ed Oscar and Irving, also preceded him in death.
John accepted Christ at an early age, and was a devoted member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church of Wewoka all of his life.
As a tireless worker, Trustee, and devoted Christian, he gave of his time and resources to his home church and to the Butner Cemetery, which has resulted in many improvements over the years.
John, better known at "J.B." to his friends and associates, and affectionately known as "Uncle J" to his nieces, nephews, and many others that knew him, received his elementary education at Johnson Grove School, high school at Wewoka’s Douglass High, and college at Langston University, where he obtained a B.S. degree in Agriculture.
A World War II veteran, J.B. served in the United States Air Force. After military duty, he returned Wewoka to live.
He was employed at Tinker Air Force Base as Chief Greenskeeper, responsible for the care of the Tinker Air Force Base Golf Course.
While still employed at Tinker, he went onto business with his sister, Louella Bruner Porter, Sapulpa, and assisted her faithfully in the operation of Porter Nursing Homes, located in Sapulpa and Wewoka.
John met and married the former Maggie Viola Carolina, and they have remained married for over 40 years.
From 1965 to 1995, they owned and operated Boley Nursing Home in the historic black township of Boley.
As one of the main employers in that community, John served as a mentor to many high school students in the area starting their first jobs and was a friend to the entire community.
John also spent many years travelling, serving as a Team Leader and member of the Nursing Home Classification Teams for the Long-Term Care (Nursing Home) industry, visiting other facilities throughout the state, helping to promote uniformity in the early transitional years of nursing homes in the state of Oklahoma.
He was an associate member of the Oklahoma Nursing Home Association and was licensed by the Oklahoma State Board of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators.
John also was a former co-owner of Elmwood Manor Nursing Home of Wewoka.
In a long-term health care career that spanned nearly 50 years, John was awarded in 1994 with a Lifetime Achievement Award from his peers in the Long-Term Care industry in the state of Oklahoma.
John was a Master Mason in the Masonic Fraternity, and was also an avid fan of Wewoka Tiger and Boley Bear high school sports, and Langston, OU and OSU sports programs.
His benevolence in the communities that he served was apparent, for he always gave and never asked for anything in return.
In the early morning of Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, God called John Booker Bruner home. Uncle J leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Maggie, of the home; nieces Bensetta Kearney, Yvonne Sands, Helen Harding, Lillian (Tim) Sutton, Lenetta Stevenson, Sharlene Nichols, Lavonne Bruner and Lovell (Steven) Cholcote; nephews Charles (Barbara) Bruner, John M. Charles Bruton
Graveside services for former Seminole resident Charles William Bruton, 76, are scheduled for Saturday at Maple Grove Cemetery with Rev. Dave Karges officiating.
Memorial services were held Dec. 14, 1998 at First Presbyterian Church in St. Cloud, Minn. under the direction of Benson Funeral Home, Minnesota.
Bruton died Dec. 4, 1998 at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
He was born in New York to William J. and Anna Ruth (Suvada) Bruton.
He moved to Seminole in 1939, where he graduated from Seminole High School while living with Mamie, his aunt, and Con Long.
Bruton served six years in the Navy Medical Corps and as a Chief Petty Officer on duty with the Marine Corps.
He received his masters degree from Oklahoma A&M College (OSU) in 1952, the taught high school in Stillwater, and later in Tulsa.
Bruton moved to Minnesota in 1957, where he earned his doctorate in Biological Sciences from North Dakota State University in 1969, then retired Professor Emeriti in Biology after 25 years at St. Cloud State University in 1982.
He then became a realtor in the St. Cloud area. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and a trustee.
Bruton was also a Fourth Day member of Cursillo and Alcoholics Anonymous.
He married Bevery D.Sawyer on May 7, 1944 in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, New York. She survives him of the home.
Bruton was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Margaret.
Other survivors include one daughter, Constance Youel, Seattle, Wash.; one son, Robert Ramsey, Minnesota; one brother, John Bruton, Bradenton, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
The family has suggested that expressions of sympathy may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Seminole, or the donor’s choice.

- Funeral services for Percy Leon Bryan, 71, brother of Seminole residents, were held Saturday at South Rock Creek Baptist Church.Burial followed at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Bryan died Thursday, April 15, 1999 at a Shawnee hospital.
He was born July 13, 1927 in Pampa, Texas, to Dale Wesley and Della May (Wardlow) Bryan.
Bryan attended school in Liberal, Kan., and served in the US Army Airborne from May 1, 1946 to Nov. 1, 1947 during World War II.
He was a retired drilling superintendent in the oilfields and worked overseas.
Bryan had lived in the Shawnee area since 1961, and was a member of India Temple Shriners of Oklahoma City, Elks Lodge #657, VFW of Shawnee, Masonic Lodge #476 and was a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason in McAlester.
He married Myrtle Staker on March 2, 1946. She preceded him in death Jan 1, 1995.
After her death, he married Mellba Carnes (Bridges) Bryan on Oct. 13, 1998. She survives him of the home.
Bryan was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Other survivors include his sons, Dennis Bryan, Shawnee, Bruce Bryan, New Iberia, La., Clyde Bryan, Earlsboro, Mike Bryan, Eufaula; three stepchildren, Ronald Carnes, Tecumseh, Gary Carnes, Okmulgee and Deborah Smith, Owasso; one brother, Herbert Bryan, Stillwater; sisters, Bonnie Cooper, Tulsa, AlicMarie Hall, Seminole, Emma Johnston, Coffeyville, Kan., Linda Floyd, Seminole and Vickie Stapp, Tecumseh 10 grandchildren five great-grandchildren, and nine step-grandchildren.
The family has suggested expressions of sympathy be made to the India Temple Shriners, the Masons or the Elks.

Evelyn Bryant
EMMITT, Idaho ¾ Funeral services for former Seminole resident Evelyn Bryant are set for 11 a.m. Friday at Emmitt Cemetery.
Burial will be under the direction of Potter Funeral Chapel.
Bryant died Monday at Emmitt Care Center.
She was born Aug. 9, 1916, in Dennison, Texas, to Robert and Katie (Smith) Ivey.
She grew up in Seminole and attended Seminole High School.
She married Vincent Bryant while still living in Seminole; they moved to Arizona. She also lived in California before moving to Idaho in 1978.
She was preceded in death by her husband; he died in 1993.
Survivors include three children, Phyllis Adcock, Rosemont, Calif., Billy Bryant, Emmitt, and Martha Frazier, Payette, Idaho; three brothers, Bob and Bill Ivey, both of Emmitt, and Ray Ivey, California; three sisters, Anita Strahan, Emmitt, Jean Keener, Rosefield, Calif., and Velma Anson, Seminole; 11 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Leon, George and Fred Ivey; and two sisters, Mildred Wright and Margaret Collins.

Funeral services for former Wewoka resident Rev. Charles Edward Bryant Sr., 54, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at FIrst United Methodist Church, Wewoka.
Rev. E.G. Bert of St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church, Oklahoma City, will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Westwood Cemetery, Wewoka, under the direction of Myers Mortuary.
Bryant died March 5, 1999 in Oklahoma City.
He was born Sept, 2, 1944 in Calhoun Falls, S.C.
A minister at Little Rose Missionary Baptist Church, Muskogee, Bryant was also a member of Livingston Lodge #175.

Bullard died Wednesday, March 10, 1999 at University Hospital, Oklahoma City.
She was born July 13, 1928 in Seminole to J.G. and Jessie Lee (Dillard) Summers.
Bullard had resided in Shawnee since 1959.
She retired from Southwestern Bell in 1983 after 24 years of service.
Bullard was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Earlsboro, and the Telephone Pioneers.
She married Delbert Allen Bullard on July 16, 1943 in Richmond, Calif. He survives her of the home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Other survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Sandra Bullard, Shawnee and Victor and LaQueta Bullard, Marietta; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherrian and Melvin Carter, Shawnee; one sister, Lois Wilkerson, Seminole; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Summers, Seminole, and Sandra Costa, Manteca, Calif.; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grand-children and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for former Bowlegs Public School Superintendent Charles Bundy, 58, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Ada.

Bundy died Wednesday, July 14, 1999 at an Ada Hospital.
He was born Sept. 9, 1940 in Ada to Cleo and Lorene Dansby Bundy.
Bundy graduated from Ada High School, and from East Central University. He received a master’s degree in counseling from Central State University and his Administrator’s Degree from Oklahoma State University.
A veteran, he served in the US Air Force for four years.
Bundy served in public education for 28 years, retiring in 1997 as superintendent of Bowlegs Public Schools after eight years of service.
He attended First Pentecostal Holiness Church, and was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
He married Novella King on June 17, 1962. She survives him of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Lindel Bundy, Ada and Trent Bundy, Elmore City; two daughters, Larna Bundy, Ada, and Treva Bundy, Bentonville, Ark.; three sisters, Clarene Land, Oklahoma City, Barbara Bess, Seminole and Nelma Groves, Shawnee; two brothers, Billy Bundy, Ada and Mark Bundy, Shawnee; his mother, of Seminole; and five grandchildren.

Ed Burchfiel
Funeral services for former employee of The Seminole Producer and former co-owner of The Wewoka Times Ed Burchfiel, 87, are scheduled for11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Cordell.
Interment will follow at Lawnview Cemetery under the direction of Loftiss Funeral Home.
Burchfiel died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999.
He was born Nov. 21, 1911, and worked as a journalist for 59 years at 14 different papers.
Burchfiel began his career at the Tulsa World as a 17-year-old office boy. During high school, he worked for The Seminole Producer, and after graduating, went to work for the Bristow Daily Muskogee Daily Phoenix.
Burchfiel left the Phoenix in 1942 to work as a copy editor for the Baltimore Evening Sun. He returned to Oklahoma City in 1943 to take a job with United Press.
In 1947, Burchfiel left United Press to join a partnership. For the next few years, he worked at Claremore, Pauls Valley, Wewoka and Frederick.
Burchfiel was owner or part owner of six of the papers where he worked, including The Wewoka Times.
He purchased the Cordell Beacon in 1969, where he remained as owner and publisher until selling it in 1987.
Burchfiel was the 1983 recipient of the Beachy Musselman Award, was inducted to the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame in 1985 and was presented the H. Milt Phillips Award in 1997.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, who died May 5, 1999.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Watkins, Hobart; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Maxine Burchfiel
Word was just received of the death of former Wewoka Times-Democrat co-owner Maxine Burchfiel, 77.
Services were held May 8, 1999 in Cordell under the direction of Jack Loftiss Funeral Home.
Burchfiel died Wednesday, May 5, 1999 in Cordell.
She was born Aug. 24, 1921, and received a degree in business and home economics from Southwestern State College.
She was employed as a teacher and at the state department before working for Sohio Petroleum Co.
On Jan. 14, 1956, she married Ed Burchfiel and began her newspaper career.
Her husband and Ken Reid, both publishers of the Pauls Valley Daily Democrat, purchased the Wewoka Daily Times-Democrat.
The couple operated the Wewoka paper for one year before moving to Pauls Valley to take over operation of the Daily Democrat.
In 1969, the Burchfiels purchased the Cordell Beacon, where they remained until selling it in 1987.
Burchfiel was active in the Cordell community, serving on the board of the Washita County Historical Society and as a member of the Business and Professional Women.

Graveside funeral services for Wewoka native Jack Dempsey Burchfield, 78, of Norman, were held this morning at Maple Grove Cemetery.

He was born May 18, 1921 in Wewoka to Paul and Grace (Gray) Burchfield.

Burgess was a member of High Spring Church.
He was married to Mary Ann Burgess in Wewoka on March 11, 1988; she survives him of the home.
He was preceded in death by his father and one infant sister.
Burgess is also survived by his mother; three brothers, Sonny Burgess, Leo Burgess and Amon Burgess of Konawa; two stepsons; one stepdaughter; 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Burgess was retired from the military and air craft maintenance at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City.
He was a member of the Earlsboro First Baptist Church and Tecumseh American Legion.
He married Mamie Gertrude "Gertie" Swarb on March 25, 1974, in Hazel Green, Ala. She died Aug. 24, 1997.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired Civil Service employee.

Burleson died Friday, Dec. 10, 1999 at Holdenville Hospital.
He was born June 30, 1904 in Hamilton, Ala., to Bark and Cora (Braswell) Burleson.
Burleson had lived in Seminole County for more than 80 years, moving here from Alabama.
A pumper for Midcontinent and Sun Oil companies for 38 years, he retired in 1969.
Burleson belonged to the Church of Christ in Wewoka.
He married Gladys (Beaver) Burleson in 1972 in Seminole County. She survives him of the home.
Burleson was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ruby Ora (Boatman) Burleson on Jan. 27, 1972; and two daughters, Euala May Sawyer in June, 1999 and Earnestine Gentry on July 4, 1996.

Raised in Bowlegs, Burns was a graduate of Bowlegs High School before moving to Borger, Texas, where she was employed as a store clerk.
After retiring in 1982, Burns returned to Bowlegs, where she lived at the time of her death.
She married W.K. Burns on July 26, 1938 in Seminole. He preceded her in death.
Burns was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Don Henry Burns; one daughter, Gloria Fern Murry, two brothers, Don Walker and James Walker; four sisters, Pauline Arthur, Joann Smith and two infant sisters; and one grandson.
Survivors include two sons, William L. Burns, Konawa and Jerry L. Burns, Seminole; one daughter, Joyce Ann Brooks, Bowlegs; one sister, Virginia Waug, Ft. Collins, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Burton died Thursday, July 8, 1999 at Holdenville General Hospital.
She was born Oct. 16, 1914 in Hazel to Luther Hale and Janie Lee (Hayes) Hale.
She was raised in Hazel and attended Butner Schools.
In 1932, she married B. Martin in Hughes County; he preceded her in death.
In 1964, she married George Burton at Shawnee; he survives her of the home.
Burton worked for 15 years as a cook for many cafes in the Seminole County area.
She retired in 1968 and moved to Wynnewood, but returned to Seminole County in 1972.
Burton was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, one daughter, Faye Jewell Martin, one grandson, Jimmy Murray, two brothers, Marvin Hale and Lonnie Hale, and one sister, Idella Gains.
Other survivors include two sons, Leonard "JD" Martin and Alvie Martin, both of Wewoka, three daughters, Ella Mae Murray and Juanita Mathews, both of Wewoka and Vera McDonald, Shawnee.
Other survivors include four brothers, Eugene Hale, Elmore City, Willie Hale, Sallisaw, J.R. Hale, Seminole and Bobby Hale, Wewoka; two sisters Thelma Cox, Pixley and Mary McMullins, Wewoka; 20 grand children, 17 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

He was born May 15, 1919 in Stafford, Kan., to James Henry Bush and Eliza (Elder) Bush.
Bush married Stella L. Dougless on Feb. 6, 1946.
He moved to California and worked as a transportation superintendent for an oil comp-any until retirement in 1968.
Bush owned a business in Springdale, Ark., for 16 years before returning to Seminole.
He served as a Sergeant in World War II as a member of the Army Air Corp.
Bush was a member of the Baptist Church, the Seminole Elks Lodge and the American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Bush is survived by his wife, two sisters, Amy Reilly of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mildred Houston, N.C.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Butler, 88, died on Wednesday Aug. 11, 1999 in Ardmore.
She was born July 8, 1911 in Wewoka to Jim and Neeley (Thurmond) Butner.
Butler was raised in Butner were she graduated from high school.
She married Charley Daniel Butler on Dec. 24, 1930. He preceded her in death.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Elva and Ray Butner and one sister, Opal Pollard.
She is survived by her two sons Harold Butler of Ardmore; Wilbur Butler of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, 10 great-grand-children and three great-great grandchildren.
The Pallbearers will be Steve Butler, Jeremy Soper, Jeff Butler, Kyle Soper, Chet Butler, Randy Butler, Skip Butler and Greg Hawkins.

Butler died Tuesday, May 11, 1999 at Wewoka Nursing Center.
She was born June 22, 1911 in Altus, Ark., to J.B. and Laura Ann (Karr) Phillips.
She lived in Altus until 1931, moving to Wewoka where she lived and worked to Allen’s Ready to Wear until 1946.
In 1975, Butler moved to Pottsboro, Texas, and returned to Wewoka in 1991, where she was a resident at Wewoka Nursing Center.
She married Johnnie T. Butler in January, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Butler was also preceded in death by her father in 1940, her mother in 1946; eight sisters and seven brothers.
Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews, including Mrs. J.W. Brooks and Randy Brooks, both of Wewoka.

Funeral Services Set for Local Doctor, Education Supporter
Funeral services have been set for longtime Seminole optometrist and education proponent Dr. Hubert L. Callaway.
Callaway died Wednesday at Seminole Medical Center at the age of 79.
His services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, with burial following at Maple Grove Cemetery.
In addition to conducting an optometry practice in Seminole since 1951, Callaway was a community leader and outspoken supporter of Seminole education for nearly 50 years.
He was instrumental in keeping Seminole State College from closing during the early years when it was separated from Seminole High School.
He served for many years on the Seminole school board and as a member of the college’s Board of Regents.
"I always have had an interest in schools and good education," Callaway said in a 1960s newspaper story about his service on the school board.
"I have worked with other members to move the Seminole school system forward with the resources made available to us.
"I feel that we have a good school system."
Callaway was born Oct. 22, 1919, in Selda, Mo., to Orie Judd and Edith (Farris) Callaway.
He was a football star at Muskogee High School, named to two All State teams, and won a football scholarship to the University of Oklahoma.
He entered the US Army after two and one-half years at OU, and served with the artillery three years in Europe.
During World War II, he was awarded four battle stars: the Air Offensive of Europe, the Normandy Invasion, Rhineland Service, and Central Europe Action along with the Distinguished Unit Badge during the Battle of the Bulge.
He married Mary Nell Henry on April 15, 1948, in Muskogee; she survives him, of the home.
He was a member of the Seminole Elks and Kiwanis. He was a life member of the American Optometric Association and was a trustee and elder of Seminole’s First Presbyterian Church.
He also served on the boards of Campfire Girls, Boy Scouts and the Seminole PTA.
Callaway was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, E. Farris Callaway.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include their son, Lee Callaway, Ponca City; their daughter, Kelly Burgar, Parker, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Amy and Lisa Callaway and Holly Brockett.
Pallbearers include Steve Nelson, Glen Carrell, Bob Davis, Ed Hardin, Cliff Pearson and Herman Ritchie.

Aaron Calvert
Funeral services for Wewoka Aaron Clester Calvert are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Stout Chapel in Wewoka.
Calvert died on Thursday Aug. 12, 1999 at his residence.
He was born on Aug. 24, 1921 in Ada to William Spencer and Allie (Hopkins) Calvert.
Calvert was raised in Ada and west Texas and attended school in Ada.
He served in World War II and returned to Wewoka before moving to Texas where he worked in the oil field until his retirement in 1976.
He remained a Wewoka resident until the time of his death.
Calvert married Cecilia Lou Patty Sneed of Wewoka on April 19, 1984 she survives him of the home.
Calvert is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers Thomas, Cotton, C.M. "Sonny" and Red Calvert and one grandson.

Chiefton Camp
Funeral services for former Wewoka resident Chiefton Camp, 34, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stout Funeral Home.
Revs. Leon Postoak and Houston Tiger will officiate at the services.
Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Wake services are set for 6 p.m. tonight at Stout Funeral Home.
Camp died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999 in Oklahoma City.
He was born Sept. 4, 1965 to Sonny and Elizabeth (Harjo) Camp in Wewoka.
Camp attended school in Wewoka and Konawa, then moved to Oklahoma City for a short time.
He married Elizabeth C. Allen on May 17, 1986 in Atoka. She survives him of the home.
Camp was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Camp.
Other survivors include three children, Cedric Lee Camp, Clifton Camp Jr., and LaFiammia C. Camp, all of the home; his mother, of Wewoka; and nine sisters, Christine Camp, Sarney Camp, Rogenia Camp, Carmen Lou Camp, Donna Faye Camp, Amone Camp, all of Oklahoma City, Monroe Camp, Kansas City, Mo., Jannie Porter, Ada and Patsy Wolf, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are listed as Cedric Camp, Roddick Harrison, Sarney Camp, Amone Camp, Jonathan Allen and Lucas Camp.

Ralph Campbell
Funeral services for former Seminole resident Ralph Henry Campbell, 62, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery, Maud.
Campbell died Tuesday, July 6, 1999 at his home in Winston-Salem, N.C.
He was born June 9, 1937 in St. Louis to John M. and Alma (Sartors) Campbell.
A self-employed dry wall contractor, he was married to Betty (Garner) Campbell. She survives him of the home.
Campbell was preceded in death by his father, and two brothers, Ronald and Hoyt Campbell.
Other survivors include his mother, Alma Campbell, Tecumseh, four sons and daughters-in-law, Cullen R. and Sandra Campbell, J. Brent and Subrena Campbell, Darin K. and Cherrie Campbell and R. Grant Campbell, all of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Max Campbell, Houston, Texas and Jerry Campbell, East Bend, N.C.; and six grandchildren, David, Dara, Rachelle, Jonathan, Scott and Josh.
Casket bearers include Hulett Edgmon, Henry Kimmel, Larry Moyer, John DeHart, Charlie Richey and Denver Chekk.
Honorary casket bearers include Gary French, Jimmy Lynn Austin, Bobby Davis, Charles Fixico, Jim Stowe, and all his golfing friends from Seminole and Hillcrest Golf Club.

Tyler Campbell
Graveside services for Konawa resident Tyler Paul Campbell, three month old son of Gregory Campbell and Angela Williams, are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Father Matthew Brown, O.S.B. will officiate at the services.
Campbell died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999 in Konawa. He was born May 12, 1999 in Shawnee.
Survivors include his parents and one brother, Cristian Campbell, of the home.
Jimmie "Ozvna" Carbitcher Jr.
Gone is a loving husband, dear father, tender grandparent and a wonderful friend. A quiet man who helped many, never asking for anything in return.
A leader of his family with a kind and gentle nature, soft-spoken with a mischievous smile who will be greatly missed in the lives of those that knew and loved him.
Life-long Seminole county resident Jimmie "Ozvna" Carbitcher, 69, will be laid to rest on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m.
He will be taken to his home southeast of Bowlegs at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Wake services will be conducted until his burial. An all-night vigil will be held Wednesday evening starting at 7 p.m.
Rev. Dave Bowlegs and Bro. Russell Coker will officiate the services. Burial will follow in the Jimmie Carbitcher family cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Carbitcher died Monday, November the 8th, 1999, at Seminole Medical Center after a lengthy illness with leukemia.
He was born April 9, 1930 in Bowlegs to Jimpsey and Sallie (Narcomey) Carbitcher; they precede him in death.
Those who knew Carbitcher, knew him best as "Ozvna," his given Indian name.
In 1949, he married Nancy Mae Deere in Seminole; she survives him of the home.
Carbitcher attended Bowlegs public schools and Jones Academy. He trained in upholstery in Talihina.
He worked throughout his life as a common laborer. A retired auto mechanic and a man of many talents, there were not many jobs he attempted that he could not complete. He worked a short time for Seminole County as a road grader. He also worked cattle and farmed part of his life.
Carbitcher was a reserve Deputy Sheriff for Seminole County in years past.
He was the coordinator for Seminole Nation’s tribal stickball games.
Carbitcher was a member of Mekusukey Baptist Church where he come to enjoy church songs, hymns, and gospel singing.
He reared his children in the Bowlegs area in the tradition of the Seminole tribal methods. He lived the ways of the Seminoles, intermingling his life with that of the world around him.
Carbitcher handcrafted traditional yarn belts and enjoyed attending stomp dances where he was a dance leader for many years. He followed the customs of the ancient Seminoles in the dances he led.
One of his favorite past times was playing with his grandchildren, and following their school and extracurricular activities. He enjoyed teaching them the Seminole language and customs of their ancestors.
Carbitcher will follow the Seminole tribal custom through his funeral services and burial.
Survivors include four sons and daughter-in-laws, Freeland "Rusty" and Shalah, Stroud, Jimpsey and Vicky, Cedar Hill, Texas, Cooky "Toby" and Shellie Lynn (Neighbors), and Younger "Sonny" and Karen (Factor), of Seminole; six daughters and son-in-laws, Pat Larney, Midwest City, Betty Jean "Tina" and Gene Wahweah, El Reno, Marina Brown and Roger Butler, Tecumseh, Dora Mae and Dave "Roman" Hill, Serena and Dewayne Scott, and Nettie and David W. Haney Sr. of Seminole.
